    I was curious about how this dude was so I tried killing him for fun.
    He devastated my party with lightning and flesh-to-stone spells, I had a hard time even hitting him, and he never failed a save so I wondered if it's even possible to kill him.

    Shop guy? I know Shandalar is a strong Vampire in BG2. Does he also play in BG? Or do you mention another one.. Or is he in TOSC (I didn't play that) Please some information. :)

    Shandalar is no BG2 character. (You got the name wrong.)

    Shanadalar is the TOSC mage in Ulgoth's Beard which sends you on a little quest... He teleports you to an icy island with a dungeon beneath and wants you to retrieve his cloak. He's a very powerful mage...

    to answer the original question,
    yes he can be killed. prep yourself before leaving the ice-island. when you're teleported, hit him hard & fast!
    BTW, only Shan can use his cloak...

    I tried to kill him more than ten times and didn't succeed. When my party almost killed him, he always teleported away. Good to hear, that someone finally killed that bastard...

    Hey I'd love to know how he was killed. I myself tried quite a few times, and used almost every stategy I could think of. Guess I wasn't thinking enough. Every times I almost had him by hitting him hard and fast, he teleported away. Bummer really as I would have liked to pay him back to teleporting me to that blasted ice island.

    You can travel back to the ice island after you have given Shandalar back his cloak. Once you are there, is there any way of getting back off?
