It would be nice to see one last official (or otherwise) add on for BG.

Something similiar to DSotSC, but perhaps have a story about one or two of the NPC's like Minsc, Dynaheir, Edwin and their feud or something different altogether.

Perhaps being teleported to another part of Faerun (like ToTL) but you get a new world map and when you finish that campaign, and you are teleported back to Baldurs Gate.

Raise the experience cap, more spells and generaly make it harder.

Monsters like Gnolls and Xvarts are too easy.

All that time spent loading and saving and saving and loading. Ug. That and shuffling around ALL those CD's. Switch this disc to disc that just to go from one wooded area loaded with xvarts, to another wooded area loaded with skeletons.

Otherwise, the game rules. I still fire it up once in a while, just to feel nostalgic.

    Changes??

    Erm... let me think...
Pathfinding... that is , for sure, one of the lesser parts of the game... (technically speaking ofcourse)
Especially down in that Firewine dungeon. Aaaaargh, if I even think about how dear little Imoen and Dynaheir get shot to peaces by commando's just becouse they run the other way I intended...

Npc's should listen to what I tell them to do!
Oh yeah, rid BG of respawning kobolds... :)

About Magic resistance... hehe... well, it is clearly stated on the discription of the magic potion of "Magic Blocking" that Resistance to magic could be <quote> '... a blessing or a curse...'

    So live with it.

Maybe a tip for the city map: I always run around the city once, and go to all area's before going for quests, this way you can easely travel between city parts when you do go out questing...
(Mostly the sourserous soundries and other mapparts to sell loot and get a good night sleep in the Elfsong)
Or, you could use the sewersystem...

Oh my God, what a rant...

I would make it so a Fighter-Mage could cast spells while wearing armour, hate that natch to multi-class.

I agree totally with Fish about the Firewine Ruins....they are by far the most irritating part of the game

The passages are too small and with lots of corners

And the constant respawning of Kobolds drove me nuts, thank god I have killed that bloody Ogre Mage and fled the place as soon as I could

So that is the thing I would changed in Baldurs Gate....Get Rid Of Firewine Ruins!!!!

The only thing i don't really like about baldur's Gate is the fact that the game is built for fighters or theives. There just isn't enough equipment for magic users.

[IMG] Spells!! I mean, if you read a scroll, you've read it. If you no longer want it, you burn it. But no. You try to read it to your spells book and somehow, you can be stoopid enough to not be able to manage it and the scroll dissapears. What's that all about?
I would change it so you always learn the spell. Also so you can learn more. I hate having to limit what spells i memorise at night. I want them all.

They are called rules. The game is based on AD&D in case you somehow managed to miss it, and that's how the spell system works in AD&D.

[IMG] Yeah, but everyones' talking about how it would be unrealistic to find someone in the middle of nowhere with no experience, thus, they join your party with a similar ammount of experience to your main character. Well, it's totally unrealistic to read something, fail to understand it or whatever, then when you come to try to read it again it just dissapears. If that were the case, why are there book cases wherever you go in BG??? To keep all the books and scrolls that magically vanish when they are read for the first time?? Methinks not.

You are talking about a magic scroll that disappears when you use it, not a mundane book or scroll. You are attempting to use it to copy the spell into your spellbook. If you fail to copy it correctly (essentially because you are too stupid) the scroll is still gone, just as it would be if you had cast the spell from the scroll.

    My changes to BG:
    1. Path finding, as mentioned by many others.
    2. Stop the game from swapping the party order whenever entering a new area. For example, I would go through a door with my fighters in the front, and come out the other side with the Magic Users up front, where they proceeded to get pummeled.
    3. Eliminate the paired NPC’s.
    4. Add a Good cleric as an available NPC. I was so sick of listening to Brawen(?sp?) complaining when I had a 20 reputation.
    5. Make it impossible for an evil NPC to be in the same party as a Paladin.
    6. Make more arrows available from defeated monsters, or in chests, especially when deep down in some dungeon, or in the middle of some forest.
    7. Make the game crash whenever someone attempts to use the “Fake Talk” strategy.

Making the game crash on fake talk seems a bit harsh, because it can happen accidentally.

The one thing I'd change is the allignment thing. Being evil alligned is practically useless in this game. Either I'd remove the whole allignment thing, or I'd program it in a way that being evil makes the game a lot different (and not the same with loads of penalties)
