    Snow would only dehydrate you if it were salted, but then it wouldn't be snow, it'd be salt water. :)

    The reason you don't want to eat snow for water if you're trapped out in the wilderness is that it saps your heat away, and that's the last thing you want to do if you're trapped out in the middle of nowhere in winter.
