Hi, I'm new to the game and am using a very good Guide that I found on this site. However, right at the beginning the guide talks of selecting a character that is a fighter/mage! Now, I don't know if I'm missing something here, but all I can see to selct is single descriptions, i.e. Fighter, Mage, etc. etc. There doesn't seem to be an option to select a character that is a fighter and a mage.

Can anyone help me with this?

PC is human? Personaly the first time through I would start with a straight fighter. You can dual class later. You'll can get lots of help here on dual classing when you are ready.

:edit: Welcome to the board. This is best of this type and you'll find lots of information and help.

Sorry, poor wording. :o Is your main character a human being? Wait for other suggestions before you decide. You will get a lot.

Humans cant multi class. If you want a fighter/mage you need to use a different race. Try a half-elf or elf.

Mel Ti, listen, don't use a guide with this game, it just ruins it. You will only get to the end and then wish you hadn't used it. It also wouldn't hurt to put it on a normal or hard difficulty level. Pick a class that appeals to you. Look at the information on each class and kit and pick something you like, don't take any notice of what anyone else says.

[IMG] @Takara: i would suggest a half elf because they dont have any penalties in constitution like the elfs have

yeah i agree with sarevok about using the guide.DONT use it. well as conserns creating a character i would suggest a lawfull good figher or a paladin (though i hate those two classes)it is good for a begginer to have a character who is strong and can make use of all weapons...(i started with an assasin)

EDIT: Oh and DONT speed it you will ruin the whole thing :aaa:

I agree with Sarevok that you should put the game on a normal difficulty level. Don't use guide! Pick whatever class you want (But I don't think that the sorcerer is good choice for the first game).

True true true, dont jump this game, it has LOADS to offer, mess around with it and loose a few games, trust me, choose what you thin ksound the best and go along with the game, if after a few attempts at getting stumped, try following a guide... and btw, welcome to the boards, the world is your oyster, but this is where you belong...

In agreement with everyone else, don't use a guide your first time through, I would suggest playing a fighter your first time through as well. Remember, that instead of using a guide, ask us for help if you're stuck, we'll usually help you so that you don't get the ending of quest spoiled and such.

(btw for the FIRST dungeon where you appear)

The way you get through those locked doors, the sewer golem can open them, but you have to find a statue. The Statue is found in a room where a single thing in a tube talks to you, (his name is reliev I think). It's on one of the tabls just in front of him ;) .

    [IMG] Hi guys

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions, due to storm force winds here last night, I was up all night playing the game as it's impossible to sleep through that noise. :) Oh, and spent half the night getting killed and restarting from an auto save. ;)

omnigodly: Many thanks for your reply, I've actually got past the sewer golem, I'd found the activation stone and given it to him so off he trotted, I managed to find him at the first place he went to, but he soon gave me the slip.

Anyway, I kept on exploring, managed to get through the library after a bit of a fight, and am currently still running arond in circles. :)

mel ti try to have a single class character. For a begginer a multi class is very complicated since you have to balance their stats so try to make a straight fighter.have fun playing BG2 :D

The sewer Golem opens 3 doors I believe. Look at your mini-map and I'm sure you'll notice where you have gone, (m is the key for your map).

[IMG] Thanks for your help guys. Just like to say that after hours of playing the game today, I have made it out the first dungeon, and met up with Yoshimo. :)

After I got him and myself(PC) killed, I decided to call it a night, and try again tomorrow. I had saved the game before I moved forward with Yoshimo. :)

lol that part of the dungeon is rather fun I thought :) . Interesting stuff too, just makes sure you use your special abilities as the child of bhall, (f12 is the hotkey, but it's the star icon on the bottom right of the screen).

Hi Mel Ti...I'm new also. I have done the dungeons one too many times myself. I found the walkthrough early cuz I had NO idea of how to play the game and used it for the dungeon and 2 later quests...kinda sux cuz now I know everything about those areas so I'm not usin the walkthrough anymore...too much info can ruin the game.

If you're that desperate not to play the dungeon again, try the Dungeon-Be-Gone mod. It offers some pretty funny dialogues and the ability to skip the dungeon entirely, and still get the nifty items.

No matter how many times I play through it, I still enjoy Jonny's dungeon.

Yeah, I remember when i first played it I said this is one cool dungeon, especially starting from scratch with no items. Anyone remember what classic D&D module did that to high level characters?
