They say it's a tampered-with NWN1 or KotOR2 or any mix of both. However, it can't look like NWN1 at NWN1's speed. It can't look like KotOR2 at the latter's speed either. Additionally, it just doesn't look so eye candy even at the highest settings people can get away with. That, and the fact that the system to play NWN2 fluently with all settings at max just doesn't exist. You can take the newest processor, the newest GFX card, some 2 GB RAM and it still won't max it out comfortably. So, my question is, is there any other explanation apart from the obvious one, i.e. that Obsidian screwed up?

    I don't think so.

    They should be ashamed.

er.. now it finally works over here (with no cd crack)

it runs maxed out just fine (40fps average) on my laptop.

    2gb ram
    intel core2 T7200 (2 chips, each at 2.0ghz)
    256mb geforce go 7900 gs

And they replaced the graphics engine entirely.

I runs great maxed out on my machine, and the eye-candy is fantastic. The effects don't translate that well to screenshots, but it's sweet while playing.

The real-time shadows of my party cast against the mountain wall from the lava light with the Fire Giants was spectacular. There were so many times I just thought "Wow" while playing through the game.

I never had that with NWN1 though it was a perfectly fine game.

I used to have performance issues too, but about a week ago I upgraded graphics card (7950) with the new nvidia drivers, and got the new neverwinter patch (it had been a while since I played). I don’t know what happened, but it runs smooth as heck now. I run at 1650 x 1080 with everything maxed out and I get no slowdowns. It runs as smooth as oblivion at the same settings. Before I had to use 1024 x 768 or I would get slowdowns.

I would say it was the graphic driver update, either way I’m a happy man, now.
