My mom has finaly ordered it, from *Dell*

Anyway, it looks something like this:

    Dimension 8400 processor 530 with HT tech. (3Ghz, 800fsb, 1MB cache)
    Resource CD ( ??? )
    1024MB PC-4200 Dual Channel DDR2 533Mhz [2x512]
No floppy required (whats a floppy?)
    160GB (7200rpm) SATA HD
    Sonic software for DVD/RW+R ( ??? )
Sonic software for CD/RW and COMBO
    DVD 5.1 Power Software
    16x max. DVD+/-RW and 48xCDWR
19 inch flatscreen (if I understand it correctly)
    256MB Nvidia Ge Force 6800

Is this good? What parts are particulary good/bad?

Nice. The video card is very good, the amount of RAM is exelent, the DVD burner is cool, HDD should be big enough for anything...though 2 80GB SATA HDDs in a RAID 0 array would be better.

Also, I would like to know if Dell has made the switch from IDE opitcal drives to SATA drives?

Besides all the bashing Dell gets (mainly from their terible customer support), Dell computers are very nice, and well built computers. My Dell laptop is awsome, and my brother-in-law owns 10 different Dell computers for his company and his home...he swears by them. I prefer to make desktop PCs myself, from scrap...but I'd buy another Dell laptop any day! :thumb: :rolling:

Yes. Unfortunatly. Me and my 2 siblings will pay 3000 SEK each, and my mother 9000 SEK. A total of 18000 SEK. 1$ USD=about 6.70 SEK.

    :wail: :wail: :wail:

Oh, and there is a bit more to the list:

Dell midnight grey PS/2 2 button wheel mouse
    Swedish/Finnish (QWERTY) enhanced multimedia keyboard
Swedish WXP SP2 Home (I would rather have had XP Pro)
    Swedish Microsoft works 7.0
English Paint shop standard album and Pro Try n' Buy 8.0
    Adobe 6.0
    Norton security 90 day
    Base warranty
    1Y CAR
    and other stuff

Yes, you overpaid quite a bit, but it looks like it will serve you well for a few years.

I didn't know Dell shipped to Sweden though, it's nice to see that the tyrannical Texas company is branching out. ;)

Yeah...they even have a manufacturing plant there. That way the good folks in Europe don't have to pay an arm and a leg for the cost of shipping it across the Atlantic, plus it's faster too. I just read an in-depth review of Dell's Europe plant, and it's setup looks pretty sweet. :rolling:
