Civ IV is great. Loved 1 and 2 - didn't play 3. If you liked 2 then you'll like 4. I need more RAM though - I only have half a gig and it struggled on the larger maps so I'm only playing on regular maps at the moment.

I really need to upgrade that RAM...

Well since Cal Jones revived it -

    Some great newer games:
    Total War - Medieval 2
Warhammer Mark of Chaos - I love this game
Age of Empires 3 - War Chiefs and Asian Dynasties
The Witcher (see my post on this)
Elder Scrolls Oblivion (I have 200 mods installed)

Some older games that I have fun with:
Wizardry 7 - Crusaders of the Dark Savant (there is a windows version)

Age of Empires: Shadow Magic - tons of 3rd party addons keep it viable but the campaign is great fun - one of my favorites of all time

Railroad Tycoon 2 Gold - this is very fun sim

If you know how to set up dos games -

Magic the Gathering for pc has a pretty fun campaign game
    1830 if you like rails
Master of Magic - all time favorite
    Master of Orion 1,2,3
    Colonization
