how to determine monster stats?

    Hi, I'm a relative newbie to Baldurs Gate and loving the endless pursuit of subquests.
    How does one determine monster info and affinities when confronting them ?(besides shutting off the game and checking a gamefaq)

    There is no in-depth information on the monsters in the game, so various guides and searching or asking on the forums are your best source of information. Or you can go look at the monster stats with various editing tools like ShadowKeeper, Infinity Explorer or Near Infinity. You can find all of them on SP.

    Hear, hear!

    A way of compiling your own info is, if you have cheats enabled, open the console, enable the cheat keys with the command "CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()". Now press CTRL+Q on a creature to make it join your party. There you'll be able to see its stats.

    Some creatures will make the game crash when you try to see their Inventory this way, but it's normally OK for the stats page.

    Most of the creatures have undroppable equipped items (rings, punch weapons, etc) that give them special abilities and immunities. They may be impossible to know even when you look into creature file with a game editor. Experience is the best teacher as always. (Look! A ghoul! They have a nasty paralysing attack!)
