I have installed IW in Vista the first day everything worked smooth.
But the second day every file load it was the same and when saved the games, game asked to quit.
    Any Ideas?

Welcome to the boards. I have Vista and I didn't run into that problem. Have you tried using administrative rights to run the program? I'm not sure that would solve your problem though.
Vista can be a pain with compatibility files and so on.

Good ol' vista. err...new vista. Thats a problem with the game not having "permission" to save. 2 choices, install Windows XP (heheh) or change the permissions (maybe run the game as administrator)

I just changed my HDD to have me as the creator and such...but later installed XP cause i hated trying to get around all the security on my OWN computer...grr

Vista does tolerate Icewind. It all depends on graphic card in fact, and switching compabilities modes, forcing the issues etc ain't going to help. It just works properly or not (but still works actually). For instance, on GeForce 8500 it is almost impossible to play, while on ATI Radeon 1250 everything seems to be fine (so far). On both computers I'm running Vista 32bit Home Premium, so it's gotta be graphic card issue, so you can't really do something about it (or you can: switch to XP)

    Oh fudge!

If I upgrade to 8600 would that make a difference or is it the whole 8000 line?

    Honestly, I don't know,
however, I guess that whole GeForce 8 series can't handle Icewind Dale properly, but give it a try anyway, maybe somehow it'll run all right.

    I have a solution

For some reason, I had a default folder in the saved games folder which was causing all saved games to be the same. I deleted the folder and the issue went away. Reinstalling did not help.
