[IMG] I'd rather get a ranger than a padlin'. Padlin's hurt my rear. :p

Besides rangers can get all those charm animals, and there's nothing like leading an army of bears to any would-be attackers in the forest.

Depends on what kind of party or situation you're in. Paladins make a great fighter, with their healing and protection from evil abilities, but rangers are great scouts, with hide in shadows you can send them ahead to find what kinds of enemies are there as opposed to charging in blindly. Rangers are also good as archers and fighters. Personally, I take rangers before paladins.

Me too. The fighter with hide in shadows ability is just great, And as BigB says; Charming the good animals of the forrest is excellent.

In return the padlin can only offer limited healing. I always bring a cleric so the padlin is kinda obsolete.

I like to play a paladin, Imoen and I like to go bear hunting when we get out of Candle keep for the XP. Sorry BigB:lol:

I'd rather have a quickly-cast healing spell (works in combat, too) and some low level turning abilities, than hide in shadows (I wear heavy armour) and charm animal which I never use.

A bit of meta-gaming going on in my mind ... but with Minsc & Kivan, there are plenty of good rangers to choose from. Since I prefer paladins anyways ... this helps me get the best of both worlds.

On the charm animal's note ... how do you get the spell done before they take 1-2 bites out of you????

It's a quick cast, just a whistle. I've done it many times and never been interrupted. There is a slight failure rate though :heh:. That's when you run...

I usually choose the ranger. But this is due to role-playing preferences.
It seems that the paladin is the more practical class.

Rangers and Paladins have equal fighting skills, but I prefer the Ranger for the spells, charms etc.

I've always prefered the Ranger over the Paladin, but the Paladin's Lay-on-Hands comes in handy. :)
