Half-orcs can also get 19 in strenght. I would definately try one of those out.

But I'll wager that a lot of people will suggest you to make a more excotic human Kensai, dualled at 13th Level to a mage. But then you have to roll some great stats if you want to have high Int(mage) high Str, Con, Dex.

Half-orc Kensai is very solid with 19 strenght and 19 con and 18 dex.

[IMG] would a dwarf kensai be worth trying out?

I usually prefer dwarfs to half-orcs due to their better saving throws, the str-19 don't add up that much more damage. The saving throws are very advantageous when dealing with spells.

Anyway, I tested a halfling kensai with str-17 in ToB till Saradush an he was formidable. Str isn't everything.

[IMG] I can't even think of roleplaying a half-orc kensai. I always see half-orcs as being rather uncoordinated, exact opposite of a kensai. :nolike:

Above all, I think dexterity (for AC) and maybe constitution(hitpoints) are the most important to be a kensai. I've found that my elven kensai or my human one (before I dualled to mage) worked out very well as fighting machines. Never tried a halfling but it sounds like they would work well to.

    Edit:
For my human, I actually had 15 in str and 16 con and it served me just fine as a pure fighter till I dualled.

A Dwarven Kensai would be quite good as they get 19 max Con and a bonus to saving throws.

An Elven Kensai would also work well if you went with swords as they get a natural bonus with swords and bows. They also get a bonus to saving throws I believe.

And of course there's always the Half-Orc with the 19 max Str and Con.

I'd say all of them work very well as a Kensai.

Tiger, unfortunately no race-specific weapon boni are implemented in BG-1 & 2 :(

I'd pick the one that fits the class best. I mean, a dwarf doesn't really fit for kensai.
I don't think that any race except elves and humans fit for it acctually.
If you don't want to powergame, ofcourse...
