I was wondering if someone could tell me what other classes Elminster has been. I know that he is probably the most powerful mage in the forgotten realms but I have also thought that he had been both a thief and a cleric - is this true and if so could someone please give me his full stats. I would like to try and use him for a BG2 game.

Are there any appearances of Elminster in BG2 besides the end of the Jahiera harpers thing?

I'd love to see if anyone can take him out or pickpocket some of those items. A ring of protection +3 would be a great item. Has anyone done that?

When i was reading Ed Greenwod's Making Of A Mage, I had a feeling that Elminster was a Figter/Thief/Cleric/Mage 4XDC :). Evidently, I was wrong...
Ye cant pickpocket him for the RoP +3, t'eres no such an item in game IIRC

Has anyone used the ctrl+q cheat to add him to your party? I'd like to know if he's really got the stats and all that he's supposed to. I bet they skipped most of that stuff...

When you attack Elminster in the game he does this Elminster's Evasion thing which just teleports him out. And if you ctrl+q him your game crashes.

I'm surprised at his alignement being chaotic good. Both BG games have hinted at him having a very strong Harper connection. I thought all the Harpers were supposed to be neutral alignment. At best I thought he would be neutral good.

Very strong Harper connection he has, since he founded the whole thing. ;)
    It's his "pet project".

He appears a lot more in BG1. 3 times I believe.

1: One the Lion Path when you first leave Candle Keep

2: In Belegost after you complete the Mine quest.

3: When you first arrive in Baldur's Gate

    that's all I remember

Well, you meet a doppleganger who made himself look like Elminster, don't think you kill the REAL Elminster at level 6 or 7 :)

Yep, pretty unlikely, I had more than enough problems *trying* to kill Drizzt with my whole party in BG-1 ... well, finally it worked (I only did so with my chaotic-neutral fighter-thief in BG-1 [who desperately needed a proper chainmail] !!!)

    Why would you kill him?

(you don't like competition being a "hero"?)
