Is the second NWN2 expansion worth buying? I've read a lot of reviews after finding out there was another expansion (and apparently one more on the way), but they're conflicting. So hopefully I'll get more yes's than no's, 'cause I love the NWN franchise (but hate MOTB).

I would wait untill its really cheap. It has alot of new features. But the game itself gets dull very quickly. You are forced to run around ALOT trading stuff. It is alot like Sid Meyer`s Pirates, really. With some d&d tossed in.

It's $13.99 in our store right now... won't get much cheaper than that any time soon. You'll find quite a few player reviews there too.

That's actually where I was looking to buy it/reading all the conflicting reviews.

@Rawgrim, I read about the trading, I'm not sure what that's all about, but for $14, I'm willing to find out. Thanks.

Imho it is worth it, just for the fact that you get to create your own party. that said, I like this expansion a lot, it is very different from the OC and MotB though, which put a lot of people off.

    What?

'Some' reviewers. Can be classified as cretins.
    Thats an accepted psychological status.

    I agree.

Depends what you like to play. If you don't mind repetitive battles, lack of real town space or large areas, and you enjoy the idea of running a merchant company, that's fine. If not, then not. I did enjoy it, although in a rather homely way, no big thrill. It somehow had the feel of a PnP adventure and after all, they say it was content with a campaign, not a campaign with content. I don't regret the money, although I'm entirely certain about the total playing time. ;) But that was my choice to play all the overland battles because I roleplayed a good party, so I couldn't really allow dangerous bandits and such to roam around troubling people.

For the low price its probably worth trying.

I've played Sid Meyer's Pirates and NWN1. From what I've seen they are different styles of play but each can be enjoyable.

Though I don't know if I play pirates like everyone else. I tend to build up crew numbers until I can sack a town. Sack a town enough and you appoint the governor/nation it belongs too, after awhile much of the map had changed flags....

I've got it, and since I had no clue what it would be like, I've started my party off as worshippers of Tempus, with the exception of a rogue with no deity, that's turned out to be my best character in the overland map.

I think it's kind've fun going around, picking my battles. I fight anyone and anything that is hostile and a minimum of my EL. I'm sure Tempus wouldn't want me slaughtering the weak :p, but I have yet to figure out the trading and I'm a little annoying at not being able to travel direct from town to town (if there is an option for that I can't find it!)

Glad you're enjoying it to some extent.

I'm guessing a basic way it works is that you have to get a feel for what is cheap in one town and pricey in another and move said good(s) from the former to the latter.

One of the nice things about roleplaying games is being able to speed through large amounts of time that don't deal with the plot. But every game has to figure out how does one move from place to place and actually deal with the possibility you'd want to make a change mid-journey. But like I said, I'm glad you're having fun with it.

Tomaka hit the key there, maybe without meaning to. Even if you don't enjoy SoZ by itself, having it installed opens up even more mods you can download and play from the community. The strong points with NWN1 and 2 is that the there is a thriving community who are always churning out new content. So even if you don't enjoy the gameplay in SoZ - I can tell you I haven't touched that campaign - there is still countless hours of enjoyment to be had through downloading things from the Vault, or getting involved in online gameplay.

I just finished SoZ and I enjoyed it. I thought the ending was a little bit weak as there was a much tougher battle in a tower before you get to the ending, but overall I enjoyed the game. The wait times did get annoying if you (like me) went on a rampage on the world map. I did enjoy the world map and the trading aspect of the game as extra bonuses. I thought crafting was done well as you weren't able to make things that were too crazy powerful.

    On to mysteries of westgate....

SoZ is more of an old school console RPG, expect you get to create your own team using D&D rules. I quickly got bored with it and moved on to Loki: Gods of Mythology.
