supposing u dont have the Crom Faeyr yet coz ur still fighting Fiekraag for the key...

how do u kill those POWERFUL golems...the stone one i can.. but the adamantine one is real strong and immune to my weapons... except for the flail of ages... which minsc wields.. but still it does very little damagae 1-2 only... the fire and earth elementals too....

the only way for me was using my ring of the ram... but that took me a lot of time coz i had to recharge the ring after each use... and it takes 4 hits!!!

There are several ways you can sort out your problems, nearly every A golem in the game is near a thin ledge or doorway, run through it and fire from tasherons short bow + 3 (you get it after trademeet) hmmmm, then again thats the only way I did it, when i got stuck i used traps of course, they do help, also try casting hast on minsc with a lot of protections, I have also heard that if you fire a poisned arrow at him and he fails his save then even though the arrow didn't hurt him the poison will don't know if its true or not though

    Easiest way imho.

If you have a wand of cloudkill you can take golems out fairly easily, I think this works for all types. Have your thief hide and sight them, then use the wand of cloudkill from distance. The mage spell cloudkill will not work, only the wand.

    [IMG] That is a bug.
The Wand of Cloudkill disregards Magic Resistance, which it shouldn't. I suggest not taking advantage of this flaw.

    About Adamantite Golem:
Haste/Improved Haste and pound away on him with as many as possible. You need good weapons too.

you naughty naughty man Big Bad Bert

    STOP BEING EXPLOITIST ELITE!

    ARRRGH

have you not all learned already that it is BAD BAD BAD to exploit the game. You lose all the fun of it.

I know it is YOUR game to play, but where is the sense of ACHIVEMENT that you bashed something nasty and hard without even having to raise a blade, or actually try a valid tactic!

Hey, I'm just passing on info' it's not to say it's a tactic I use. Yes it does take the fun from them but it's there if you do want to exploit the option. I've just finished the three clays a room in Spellhold with staffs and maces btw. Personally I'll always take the hardest route but I'll also explore all the avenues. :)

I didn't have problems with golems.. and even less with elementals. Only one golem type caused real problems and it was clay golem, since I didn't have magical blunt weapons that much.. 0 actually. :)
But yeah.. golems are stupid. You can attract them to narrow places and use magical bows, slings and stuff like that to kill them. But because I am stupid I didnt realize that until the end. I used normal hackinh instead. Few summoned creatures first so that my party wont get that much damage and while the golem is beating up those some powerful weapons can do some serious damage even to golems pretty fast.

In sphere (if I remember correct) there's 2 groups of golems (1 iron, 2 stone and 1 clay golem) waiting for you. The iron golem (who needs more space to move around) was blocking the bridge between me and rest of golems. If I kill the Iron golem (though I couldn't because it was DAMN powerful) the other 4 behind it would be able to attack me. So.. what I did was first use sling of everguard (sp) +5 to kill the 2-3 blocked stone golems. Then I was about to kill the clay one, but it can't be killed with bows and stuff - needs blunt weapons. I thought about it pretty long.. then I made my masterplan. Secondary mage lowered the iron golem's resistances and the other mage spammed some mental spell.. 'domination' if I remember correct. And after couple shots, it went through and I had fun time wathing iron golem vs clay golem boxing match. Iron golem won.. but was hurt extremely bad. Needed only one hit from my only weapon that could damage the thing and one less golem in my way. :D

A very good spell against the Golems is Melf's minute meteors.
Although I never used it at all, because I don't know how it works!
But others said it worked very well.
And of course the wonderful spell shocking grasp, 1d10 does A LOT of damage! :D

thanx guys... but remember... the Adamantite Golem can cast a spell that creates this poisonous cloud around it.. so getting my Grasping touch Mage there is going to be quite costly... and using a two handed sword is difficult coz the swinging part of the door blocks the golem from reaching the front of the small door opening...

    Where's the problem?

When he swings his arms to make that cloud, move party members away until the cloud vanishes. And make Jaheira or others to memorize some cure poison spells, or buy potions for that.

Melf's Minute Meteors is easy to work and works similar to Shocking Grasp, Chill Touch, and any spell that replaces your current weapons with the magical ones. The number of meteors you get matches with the lvl of the wizard. Just stand still and cast it, and you will see that where your weapons were in the lower left are now the meteors, which you have to use up before you can access your other weapons again, but that's usually not a problem :D. They are fast and although a single meteor won't do that much damage to a golem, accumulated they can. In my game now the golem strategy is for Viconia to go up to the golem with Flail of Ages, Boots of Speed, and Gauntlets of Ogre Power. Meanwhile, Jan, Edwin, and Haer'Dalis pelt the golems with Melf's Minute Meteors. On the big ones, one pelts with Meteors, two cast Lower Resistance simultaneously, and then all three back it up with Magic Missles and more Melf's Minute Meteors. If we are outnumbered badly and Vic needs help, Edwin conjures some help. No problem.
