[IMG] Irenicus says that Imoen is a child of Bhaal, but there is something that just doesn't add up. I would appreciate any opinions on this matter and any reports on Imoen's odd behavior.

Geez guy, run your text through a spell checker if your grammar is so poor. Also, the correct spelling for Iranicus is Irenicus and for Imon Imoen, as you can notice above in your fixed text. -Tal

Yes she is. The story line from BG1 and BG2 indicates that Bhaal was a Stud. And then some. He seeded offspring all over the realms and she is your sister.

BG2 expands on this and perhaps well fight several other offsprings of Bhaal in the expansion pack. -The Throne of Bhaal.

Heck, Sarevok thinks everyone is. Any NPC you talk to him with, he will address as "sister" or "brother"

God, are you blind? I knew Imoen was a child of Bhaal right from the get go. It isn't as obvious in BG1, because she was so whiney. I got tired with her and sent her away. But man, all these refenrences to her and Irenicus right at the beginning? It's a dead give away.

Since this topic is on Imoen, I think I know where Bioware got her name from.

I was leafing through some of Shakespeare's plays and found that in the play "Cybeline," there is a female character named Imogen. Take away the g and what do you get? Your sister, Imoen.

By the way, is she your little sister or your big sister? I think she's your big sister, but I'm not sure.

little sister. remember when you first speak to her in BG1. If you "Rebuff" her she's gonna say something like "child? You're not much older than me, but you're taller" or something. As for being a child of Bhaal, I didn't suspect in BG1 bec. I thought Sarevok would know. Turns out he wasn't as thorough as he thought. In the beginning, all the exchanges about and between Imoen and Irenicus were oviously indications that Imoen would play an important role, but I didn't expect it for her to be a child of bhaal too.

I'm not sure she is as as the guy in the Trademeet bar didn't get hit by lightning when I sent her in to talk to him.

[IMG] Of course Imoen is a child of Bhaal too. There are numerous references to it in the game... Once you finish it it'll all become clear. Heck, it should be by the time you finish Spellhold.

Tripps, maybe that guy that got hit by lightning only gets hit when male bhaal spawns come in, because who would think of a female becoming a bhaal reincarnate?
Or maybe that guy just explodes because he just got done killing a bhaal spawn and is now being punished.

I thought that Imoen was older. If you don't take her in spellhold and send her back to the Copper Coronet and then talk to her there she says something like "What's next little brother" or someting similar.

No we were just kidding ;)

Imoen is indeed older, in BG-candlekeep, you can say 'Little-one"to here and then she says she's older (correct me if I'm wrong)

[IMG] Weird, I remember something along those lines too. But just to be sure, I went to check my BG NPCs guide at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/npcs.php and this is what Imoen's history says:

    History:
Imoen slaps your shoulder playfully. She says that you of all people should know, seeing as how you grew up together. Indeed, some of your fondest memories are of meeting this sprightly young lass. She apparently came to Candlekeep much as you did, though 10 years later in life, and she spent much more time with the guff Winthrop than Gorion. "Puffguts" she would call him, much to the old innkeep's dismay.

She seems the eternal child, and is quite content to play the part of little sister, though you are both of comparative ages. You can tell by her hearty smile that she will always be willing to travel with you, no matter what path you take.
    --------------------------------------------

So uhm, you're 10 years older than her. I wonder if anyone at Bioware remembered to check that history when they wrote the story for the sequel. She sure as hell doesn't act 10 years younger.

    P.S.
After reading it again, it makes no sense at all! She came to Candlekeep much as you did, but 10 years later, then it says that both of you are of comparative ages. What the?

Hmmz I thought in the first dialog with her, you could call her little one and she would tell you she were just a little bit younger or even older (don't remember correctly)

Can someone star a BG1 game and try this out???

[IMG] Technical, Technical. Maybe Bioware assumed there was dwarven or Elven blood in your character, then ten years different would be a comparative age.

"She apparently came to Candlekeep much as you did, though 10 years later in life,"

Hmm, that doesn't necessarily mean she is ten years younger. It could be interpreted as you arrived as an infant and Imoen arrived when she was ten, thus you could be the same age.

Hmmm... How old was the protagonst supposed to be when he/she first came to Candlekeep? To me, the passage above means they are of comparative ages, but the protagonist came to Candlekeep 10 years before Imoen. In order for the two of you to have grown up together, I'd think you would have had to have been a baby when you first showed up there... Then you met Imoen when you and she were around 10-15 years old...

Ah... Moeken beat me to it :)

The protagonist would be about 20-25. Well, I suppose that makes sense. I think that in the beginning of the game (in the intro) you are told that Gorion raised you practically from birth, since your mother died. But how exactly did Imoen get into Candlekeep at a later stage then? It's practically impossible to get in unless you donate an artifact or a book to Candlekeep and I seriously doubt she had either.

Unless Gorion took her in too because she was a child of Bhaal. But then again, he could have a whole kindergarten of Bhaalspawn in there, since there are so many of them. He would have to have a much better reason to be allowed to bring in Imoen as well.
Sounds to me like there's a hole in this plot.

    Any thoughts on this?

[IMG] Well we must remember that Gorion knew all along about your heritage and yet was raising you as a son. Gorion's job was to be a loving father who could show you the light regardless of your background. Is it so far fetched that some poor woman who can no longer look after her child (Imoen) pleads to the mercy of Candle Keep elders to look after her child? Gorion seemed to be fairly influential, so perhaps sensing Imoen's heritage as well, he used his influence to allow her acceptance, and thus raise her under the light as well.

Maybe it's a master plan by Bhaal to raise some of his progeny to become evil corrupters of good. Obviously the chances of survival are better within an environment such as Candle Keep and I'm sure Bhaal himself would not have the time or inclination to raise children. Then later send in the Sarevoks and the Irenicus' to turn the finished products to the dark side.

    Just some thoughts.

Don't forget that BG doesn't know if you are a human, and elf, a dwarf or what. An elf is not going to be in any shape to adventure at 25! I think they tried to keep that kind of stuff fairly vague because of this.
