Just like to know what your favorite weapons are. Mine is the Crom Faeyr, but I haven't finished the game yet so I might find a better one. State your reason as well.

 

My monk used the Celestial Fury the entire time after getting back from the Underdark. Before that, the Crimson Ninja-to worked quite nicely.

My monk always used the fists... :*) But my fav weapon had to be the Paly only sword... can't remember what it is now... hehehe

 

So far it is celestial fury. Love that stunning effect.

 

Flail of Ages +3.

Haven't found anything better worth using as of yet.

the flail of ages and celestial fury both rock.since i have SK i know all weapons there are and these are definately my favorite ones

 

My personal favourite is the Celestial Fury even though the Crom Faeyr is much more powerful. You get the Crom Faeyr so late in the game while the Celestial Fury is available for the taking in Chapter 2. That is, if you're really badass.

 

Celestial Fury, Carsomyr, Crom Faeyr... but, I also like a lot the Staff of Magi, in combo with the Vecna's Dress and Cloak of Non-Detection, with a Mage you can go invisible in a pack of monsters cast Fireball or Solar Fire then get invisible again... and again .

I gotta chime in for the paladins...Carsomyr is pretty awesome! It's not flashy, and it doesn't give all the benefits a Holy Avenger should, but it is still an awesome weapon.

I have a feeling my opinion will change once I've assembled Crom Feyr - I haven't found all the pieces yet. But from what everyone is saying, it should be awesome!

 

So many weapons, so few slots.

I get hung up on the popular kick ass weapons such as Celestial Fury, Crom Faeyr, Flail of Ages. I guess for the same reason most other people do.. they work well.

Is there anyone out there who uses the less popular implements of death? (spear, halberd, dagger)

I find that I like the 'boomerang' weapons. My kensai uses the returnable dagger. Korgan uses the throwing axe. They deliver some decent damage for a ranged weapon. Ah, and Minsc likes to wield the Azure Edge against undead.

One last comment. I also like the various fighting arenas found throughout the game. I like to carry around my standard katana to use in the name of sport!

 

One thing i have noticed, though...

A lot of the swords found throughout the game were refenced in an old Dragon magazine article called "Swords of the Realms" by Ed Greenwood. The one that made me remember it was Adjatha "the Drinker"

I think there were 7-10 of the swords, various tyes and abilities...Did anyone else notice? I'll see if I can find which issue had the article if anyone's interested...

 

I have just finished Chapter 3 and currently my main character (a blade) dual-welds Flail of Ages and the Wyverns Tail that way I get all types of damage, posion, fire, etc... Minsc use Lilacor and Keldorn uses Carsomyr.

But my favourite combination when fighting Vampires is Minsc dual-welding Daystar and Mace of Disruption +2.

The strategy goes like this, send Minsc (with boots of speed) right into the middle of a whole group of vampires and other undead, wait till they are surrounding him real tight and then use the Daystar ability (Sunray?) then whatever few are left after that he can take care of with the mace of disruption. My protaganist can help then as well since he has an amulet that protects him from level drain.

This strategy has worked very well... so far...

Cant wait to dual-weld Crom with my flail of ages....

 

Wyvern's Tail. Where did you attain this?

The Wyvern's Tail can be found in the sewers (Temple district) against the evil party (with Draug Fea the dwarf)... if I remember correctly. I guess you can find the *very nice* Hangard's Axe after that battle too.

 

Odd. I went through there and killed them but I guess the weapon didn't impress me enough to remember it.

I've been using the Flail of Ages +3 since I got it and any weapon that isn't +3 or better I usually sell.

It really depends upon the characters you travel with. If you are a Paladin, or have enlisted Keldorn, then Carsomyr rocks. If you have Yoshimo, or some form of scimitar-wielder, Celestial Fury is wonderful. Crom Faeyr is just plain good. In essence, everything is relative. ( @ Vile )

However, this is the (IMO) best with regards to its class restriction:

Staff of the Magi-
+2 to AC...
+2 to all saves...
Innate Invisibility and Pro: evil...
Immunity to charm...
Activated Lightning/Fireball combo...
Activated Trap Spell at 30 levels...
Dispel Magic like Carsomyr...
Strikes as a +5 weapon...

A staff of power, only better...

A magic user couldn't ask for much more. (well, maybe a robe of the archmagi or of Vecna and some Orbs of Dragonkind )

I agree Amon-Ra, in my current game, I use on a Sorcerer a Robe of Vecna in combinaison with the Staff of Magi (and Cloak of Turning), and definitely, it ROCKS . The Staff is probably one of the best item.

 

Amon-Ra and Rasalgethi are right, my main (fighter/mage) uses exactly this combination with the Bracers AC3, SpeedBoots, GaxxRing, StrengthGirdle etc. He brings down all the spell-slingers, has downed almost all Golems (Crom Faeyr appears way to late), most dragons and Kangaxx-Demi-Badass...seems like a good investment at all, thanks to the Twisted Rune!
