Don`t the might and magic games follow the rolemaster rules?

No, not really (at least the ones I've played).

I first got introduced to D&D when I got the Gold Box game "Curse of the Azure Bonds" as a gift for my Apple IIGS. I then sought out and purchased the predecessor "Pool of Radiance", but I was unable to locate "Champions of Krynn" for the Apple II.

Later I was talking to some people at school who also liked the game and we decided to learn the system it was based on. We played through high school, but broke up in the late 1990s when going off to college in different parts of the country and then having to work summer jobs.

Unfortunately, between those times my family had hit hard times, so I wasn't able to get a new computer for many years. Thus, I only had an Apple II until 1997. Obviously this limited my gaming choices. Thank goodness I could get on the 'net at high school starting in '95 and was able to download new stuff.

I'm sure it would. But imagine trying to figure it out on your own. You would spend a few years doing that!:D Though I would love a pc game that utilized that rule-system. As long as it wan't middle-earth that is. That system just didn't fit that game world.

Sure, MERP didn't make any sense...

Still, I don't think the Rolemaster system is so complicated, it's really heavy (if you see what I mean) but if you trim it up you can get a nice game out of it... with at least 60 pages of tables including attack types, critical hits tables and critical misses.

    Some nasty stuff. :shake:

I enjoyed the few times we utilized Rolemaster as the game engine. So many character possiblities, it's makes for great replay value. And it's easily adaptable to any game world. MERP was a dumbed-down version of Rolemaster though, it could of been so much better.

The only D&D experience I had before BG2 was multiple plays of BG and a good read of the manual. Between what has provided in the manual and what I could quickly figure out in-game, I found the rules pretty straight-forward to understand.

But then, I did play 2nd edition 40K while at primary school, so complex rules really weren't all that daunting. :heh:

I have discovered the beautiful world of D&D with the game IWD2 when it came out new. I had no idea whatsoever about the D&D world and rules but I am a quick learner and I greatly enjoyed IWD2, though ofcourse I sucked at it (discovered how to learn mage spells from scrolls at chapter 3 lol) I then found 3rd edition D&D books, and played table top with my friends.

Though ofcourse I have heard much about BG2 and despite it was older than newest game IWD2 it was a masterpiece of game and way much better than already fun IWD2.

Later, when at last I had a chance to play BG2 and wow...I was awestruck, I fell in love with the game and every single thing about it, and BG2 became the best game I ever know in my life, and even now I still play it with TuTu and lots of ever growing mods. I took a retro step and liked the old 2nd edition AD&D rules and ditched 3rd edition. (don't ever want to talk about the 4th ed ugh!) Still a fan of BG series and 2nd edition AD&D and I can't get enough of them!

Zero experience. I remeber my mom bringing me home a disc that had the Candlekeep tutorial section, and that's it. I was only 5 or so at the time and don't even remember buying the series, but at some point I did. Now it's been my favorite game for God knows how long.

I've been playing PnP for more than a decade and had been playing it before I picked up BG I.

I still DM every week. Some campaigns have been running for years.

For me, it went BG1, then I started playing a PnP campaign, then I moved up to BG2. as my interest in D&D related stuff grew.

The problem was, moving from BG1 to 3.5Ed was a bit tricky, I got a lot wrong at first :D

    "Why is your AC 3?"
    "Er, because i'm wearing armour?"
    "....Idiot."

I had only ever played a fighter in table top AD&D before BG. BG and especially SOA taught me how to 'think outside the spell book' and be a really effective mage.

I've always been interested in D&D/AD&D P&P gaming. I've owned a number of hardback player's books hoping that I'd find someone to play with but never did.

I was thrilled when Pools of Radiance came out on the C64 and played almost all the Goldbox AD&D releases on the C64.

I got a PC later on and played the Pools of Darkness exclusive. I played Planescape Torment and Ice Wind Dale (I have IWD2, but haven't played it yet) a long while ago and Baldur's Gate 1 and Neverwinter Nights (Have the expansions for it, need to play them as well) sometime afterwards.

This was during and around other RPGs I've played like Fallout 1 & 2, Daggerfall & Morrowind, Might & Magic 3 - 6, Ultima Underworld 1, Ultima IV, Gothic 1, etc.

I've heard alot of good things about BG2 (Installing it now actually) so I'm really looking forward to it. If its as good as Planescape Torment is, then I know I'll love it (I didn't care too much for Baldur's Gate 1 though for some reason).

I had played a lot of PNP, but always a fighter. Baldur's Gate taught me how to be an effective mage.

I had played a little second edition when I was in grammar school. I have played a good amount of PnP since Baldur's Gate though.

I had played some few pnp games before playing BG2, I remember it as a great experience.
Then I tried BG1 and a few other rpg's I could get my hands on.

I've been playing table top D&D on and off since the summer of 1987, as I moved to a bigger town, and met others who also played.

I played Daggerfall before I learned BG and later BG2. I've tried IWD and IWD II but BG and BG2 always was best to me.

Daggerfall was historic to me. It was the most open game of it's time. It reminded me of D&D more than the actual D&D games themselves in a exploratory kinda way.
