will wisdom and intelligence be of any use for a fighter? and can a fighter also be used as a good archer? (better then a ranger?)

I like to make rounded characters so I never really let any stat be too low. Intelligence will affect the way others in the game react to you (don't make your protagonist too stupid or you won't get any good options in dialog). Wisdom is supposed to help with saves from magic -- I don't know if that was incorporated into the game.

Fighters make the best archers. Period.

15 in Charisma is a wise choice giving you a +3 on reaction adjustments. A 15 in Wisdom would give you a +1 on some saving throws, at least according to the game manual.

The game did not implement wisdom save benefits, so don't bother. Also, as mentioned elsewhere, we do not allow things like "u" for you and "some1" for someone. You agreed to the rules when you signed up and should have received an appropriate message as well. It isn't difficult to spell out the words, and it is courteous to do so, which we appreciate.

89/00 is a very good and hard to get roll. But a character with str 18/00, dex 19, const 17, intelligence 3, wisdom 3, charisma 18 would be better.

Wrong. This applies to proper rpgs like Fallout, not to BG. In BG you get the same dialogue options with 3 int as with 18 int.

I stand corrected but then again I never was into the min/max bs. Give me a rounded character I can role play -- 3 int and 3 wis is simply pathetic.

I am sorry, but grammar is not my strongest side. English is not my motherlangauge. I learned typing it on the internet. thats why I am used to things like: u, some1, w8 etc.

And be totally ridiculous. This character wouldn't be able to hold a conversation or know to come in out of the rain, let alone stand a chance of finding Imoen.

When I used to play BG1 I would often min/max attributes like this (i.e. 3int/wis), but roleplaying wise it is quite silly.

Your character would at least have to be a few steps in front of Minsc in those stats.

Recently I just can't be bothered with the constant re-rolling (though I used to spend hours doing so!), so I just use shadowkeeper. I basically give myself plausible 'heroic' character stats. Usually close to, but not exceeding Sarevok's overall point value (95 I guess).

I personally go for 1 point over Sarevok. Rather than use Dale/Shadowkeeper, I tend to just head for the GateWarden and initiate the tutorial there, then cheat in whatever tomes of state increase I need and have the wizard identify them for me.

SOME fighters would love to get 17+ in either one of those stats. Namely the ones that aim to dual-class into Cleric or Mage some time in the future. :)

It's actually a bit sad that those two stats seriously lack any meaningfull use for fighters.. but that's life, I guess.

I'm having a hard time imagining someone with 3 INT and 3 WIS having a CHA of 18... a very very cute idiot? The fighter would be too dumb to say anything charming and is prone to hurting people's feeling unintentionally for not knowing what the right things to say are in social situations.

10 INT, 10 WIS, 15 CHA is very plausible though. But how did you manage to roll 18/00 STR izzywizzy? That would really take some long time rolling.

Psh, Conan the Barbarian ain't no bookworm and I can't really give much praise to his wise choices either. But he surely gets his way.

Charisma doesn't necessarily need to be of the sugar-sweet honey-lips good-looks type. Intimidation takes just as much, if not more. The former can actually get in the way of the latter, unless you want to consider something Hannibal Lecter-ish.

Nice new insight: intimidation as part of the charisma to influence people with. Gives a fresh new perspective. Makes me think of the coercion skill in DragonAge.

Conan's schemes are quite ingenious at times though and he's a skilled tactician. And while he's naive about civilization he's a fast learner. No way his INT should be under 13.

IIRC, one rather huge part of the success of Conan's strategies is the ballsy factor of it. "No WAY anyone would be stupid enough to try *that*, you gotta be ki--" *behead*

Plus, you don't need an IQ of 100+ to be able to devise a tactic. 80+ or even 60+ should be plenty enough for basic stuff if you have the stubborness and muscles to carry it through. Edit: Not to mention it would be strange if the main role was a frothing idiot, even if that'd be "closer" to the legend. Just as Disney made sure that Quasimodo (Ringer of Notre Dame) was at least likeable as a character in the cartoon version, in stark contrast to how the character is portrayed elsewhere.

That does it, my next game I'm going to roleplay Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan adventuring in Baldur's Gate.
