Ideas for Lycanthrope kit

Discussion in 'BG2: Shadows of Amn (Classic)' started by Black Rose, Jan 19, 2002.

I want a true Lycanthrope kit.. not that messed Druid Shapeshifter. Anyone who shares this view, please post here.

    ----------

This kit to go under the 'Fighter' heading.

    Silver weapons kill Lycanthropes instantly.

    Lycanthropes cannot wear armor.

    Unlimited amounts of Shapeshifts.

    Types of shifts:

    - Human->Wolf: Human form to wolf form. Wolf form is very fast with a decent AC. Good for scouting.
    - Human->Werewolf: Human form to werewolf, the classic 'shapeshifter werewolf'. Fast, good AC, beefed stats.

    Info on shifting:

    - When shifting, commoners will run in fear. Small chance of guards being called in.
    - When shifted, Rep decreases by 4.
    - When shifted/shifting during night, large chance of bloodlust, where you lose control and succumb to the wolf.. attack nearest living being. Bloodlust probability controlled by wisdom/constitution.

Good idea, but who would want to play a stinky werewolf? :p :p :p

I would. I really would. Especially one with unlimited shapeshifting abilities.

I'll edit this post later to include some new ideas I'm thinking up. Werewolf Howl (summons wolves), a class-specific quest, and alignment restrictions.

Wow, good idea but those shifting constraints are a bit harsh and suspect. I mean a reputation decrease of 4?!?!?! wowsers! I think you only decrease a rep of 2 if you turn into the slayer. I'm pretty the avatar of the lord of murder is way scarier than a werewolf so maybe tone down the rep decrease. The bloodlust thing is kind of cool, but i would make it into a berserker rage type dealy so it may be actually a decent legitimate ability. Theres nothing worse than having a character you can't control. Atleast i dont enjoy it ;). Maybe, give some penalties if one shapeshifts during the day as a werewolf. I'm not sure exactly what though...

other than that it would be kind of cool.

    cheers.

Eh.. sorry if I was unclear, strange_machine.

When a Lycanthrope is in werewolf form the rep will decrease by 4. When he/she shifts back, the rep will increase by 4.

Try swapping Viconia in and out of your party, and you'll see what I mean.

Bloodlust: It's like a wild surge, y'know.. you can't control that, either. But I see your point. Maybe during a 'full moon day' (once a week, at night) this effect will happen.

  6. Interesting, but I should point out that the only silver weapon in the game is the silver blade of the githyanki. Perhaps what you should adjust it to is that lycanthropes, while in wolf form can be hit only by magic weapons. IMHO, that makes a bit more sense. Just a little suggestion.

Great kit, but I can't picture as a lycanthrope as a fighter kit, or any kit in that case. Maybe it should be its own separate class.

    @creudzfeldt-jakob:
That way you're turning a weakness into a strength.

  8. Actually, I mean that the lycanthrope is immune to normal weapons in wolf form. The werewolves, I believe, are immune to normal weapons. The silver-weapon weakness isn't really a weakness. How many enemies are there that own silver weapons? Magic ones, sure, but silver? Uh-uh.
