I launched the lightning bolt north from the room with the mechanism and I moved the mirror so it would head west down the corridor. After I do this, I can't get into Caged fury's room (the pink hidden door). Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm pretty sure the lightning bolt hits the mirror outside it's room but when I try to enter the secret door it just stops and says "Embrace the shadow" is written on a blood soaked door....

I believe you must put your party in front of the wall/door and take some damage. Then it will open.

    More trouble...

Thanks for your replies. I have another issue...When I enter Caged Fury's room I don't get the option to say his name to release him to attack me. I just get the option to say who are you and he demands sacrifice. Then I keep getting hit by bolts of lightning when I try more dialogue. I didn't do the genie right on the first level so I didn't get his name (Caged fury) but the Abishai gave me his name. Now I 'm stuck so if anyone can help me further I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Sounds like a bug. If I were you I'd go back upstairs, talk to the genie, and try to make sure he tells me the name of Caged Fury, then go re-try the quest.

I think it also helps if you have a character with high intelligence talk with the Caged Fury.

^ I have found in my experience that the INT of the character talking to Fury doesn't matter. I typically have my toughest Ftr/Bbn type go talk to him (because he can take more of the lightning-paralyzation hits than anyone else in my party). Invariably, no matter how cleverly I maneuver my PC around the room, he gets hit at least a couple of times by Fury before he dissipates.

Maybe a guide somewhere says INT makes a difference, though, not sure.

I've never had the demons ever tell me the actual true name of Caged Fury, either. I didn't know they could do that.

Just out of curiosity, Doesn't anybody else also have Protection from Lightning cast on the character before entering the room?
I know the spell isn't as effective as it should be (IMHO a 4th level spell should be able to fully protect you from the 3rd level spell "call lightning" or at least do a better job saving somebody from it), but it still helps.

I usually have a character with high dexterity, intelligence and evasion go in. They usually just evade the lightning bolt, as well as the twister.

I think a character with high intelligence can invoke the true name of the Caged Fury (can't remember what it is), which gives you more experience.

So a Rogue/Wizard is perfect for it.

EDIT: Perhaps a character with sufficiently high intelligence would know the true name without needing to be told by the Genie?

Knowing the name yourself is based on Knowledge:Arcana with quite a high skill requirement, IIRC.
