After playing through BG1 and BG2 several times, I realised that sliding (temporarily) below my usually popular rating in BG1 allowed me to acquire the useful 'Vampiric Touch' ability instead of the 'good' alternative to it.

It wasn't until I transferred my character to BG2 I realised you can use Vampiric Touch on things other than people, but the whackiest thing of all is you can target the spell on yourself, and it acts as a healing spell!

This begs the question, if you have gained the hit points, who was it that lost them?

A version of you in a parallel universe.

Seriously, though, that's bizarre. Does it work with the wizard spell as well as the special ability (I can't see any reason why it wouldn't)?

Yes Midwinter, it does work with the spell as well as the special ability, including sending you above your normal max hit points.

I like your parallel universe idea. Maybe there is someone in another universe playing the game and asking, "why does my PC suddenly lose hit points every now and then?"

Perhaps its not his PC that looses the hit points but his mother in the parallel universe, the hidden cause of breast cancer perhaps?

    Hi -

That's true of Larloch's Minor Drain as well. You can also cast it on inanimate objects like doors and such. Personally, I like to recharge the old batteries off of docks rats -- at least they're alive!

On another note, VT will often glitch and give you a double or triple bonus, a massive HP increase.

Funny, obviously no one noticed these bugs for so long because nobody ever uses those spells. I don't think I used them once in the entire BG2...

@Taluntain...I've used these a lot as my solo WS has only these to self heal.
