I have the have IWD Complete from GOG and I want to replay it but I was wanting to mod this time. I was wondering what all of you would suggest and, also, I'll need to know the install order. Thanks!

IWD1 & IWD2 are completely separate. G3 has done a separate fixpack and tweakpack for both games. The tweakpack is something I consider a "must have" mod, as most of it is anti-frustration. Unless you like lots of inventory management and in some cases save scumming for certain things.
    Anyways, here goes:
    IWD1: Install the game.
    Install Heart of Winter
    Install Trials of the Luremaster
I do not believe there were any further official patches, and TotL should bring it up to the latest patch.
Next install the fixpack and then the tweakpack.
After that, install any mods you wish.

A similar thing for Icewind Dale II, but IIRC the bugfixes are in the Tweakpack.

Sounds good. Is there an unfinished business mod for IWD? Or anything similar to it?

I haven't played IWD Complete in....well.....many years....like since it all first came out. This'll be like I'm almost playing a new game. Seems like it was just yesterday when I was playing IWD. Anyways, thanks for the links! They'll definitely help out.

One other note, I don't have IWD Complete. I have a copy of IWD1 and IWD2, then I later got HoW separate. I don't have TotL installed on my [now] old Windows 98SE/XP dual boot computer, which is the computer I play the game on because there is this glitch when I install it that screws up the sounds made when a character makes an attack with a weapon that is most annoying.
    However, that is another thread.

IWD Complete has IWD, HoW, and Trials.....I used to have physical copies of BG 1&2, IWD 1&2, PST, etc but when hurricane Ike came through a few years ago I lost all of that and was never able to replace them again with physical copies. I've thought about picking up physical copies of these games again but I'm not sure I could get it to work with Windows 10. So might be just be just be just as easy to stick with GoG versions. As far as the glitch goes I'll check on GoG forums and see if anyone has run into this problem.

There was one thing I was wondering. Would it be worth the money to get physical copies of BG 1&2, IWD 1&2, PST, FO 1&2 especially since I'm no techie? Or should I just stick with the GoG versions?

They are cheaper (you can get the physical version of IWD 1&2&Heart of Winter for only $6 and BG isn't that much more expensive, I think $20 for both full versions on Amazon). Only reason I got IWD 1&2 in physical media is because it is cheaper. Otherwise, no, not much reason in my eyes.

I have not tried the GoG version, but if you don't have physical discs, it might be superior. I have the 5-CD version of BG1 and the disc swapping can be annoying at times. Not as bad as some old Sierra-online games where every nearly scene change you needed to swap [3.5"] disks (though I'm told the Apple IIe version with 5.25" disks was far worse. I can imagine. 800K vs 140K), but annoying.

It did not seem as bad in BG2. I'm just grateful that I eventually found instructions on another forum about 10 years ago on how to make a DVD of the game that would install and run.

No physical disks means no disk swapping. If you are loading CD images, it should be "easy as pie" to make your own physical disks.

I'm thinking of getting the physical version if for no other reason than for nostalgia. I'd still kind of like to have physical forms of them. The good thing about GoG is that they've got games like IWD working on newer computers. Some people still have problems running these games on Windows 10 but GoG is constantly doing updates to help with this. I'd recommend you at least take the time to check out GoG. Then there is Beamdog for enhanced editions of IWD 1&2, BG 1&2, and now PST.........personally I wouldn't recommend them. I never played Beamdog's IWD 1&2 but I did play BG 1&2 and though parts of what they did was okay overall I was not impressed. I would much rather stick with originals and mod them.

They didn't do an EE for IWD 2. Agreed on the rest though. They aren't worth it if you don't already have them(I got both BG1&2:EE for a total of $5 because of a GOG sale and a Steam key someone gave away.)

My bad. You are correct. They didn't. I read some where they were supposed to but as of this point in time they have yet to do so. Either way I will not buy anything else from them. It saddens me that they managed to get their hands on PST. I really enjoyed it back when I played it and luckily I had the foresight to pick it up at GoG before Beamdog got their hands on it.

I think they didn't because IWD:EE didn't sell well, even though from what I hear it benefits the most from an EE as the kits aren't as unbalanced as in BG.

Couldn't say one way or another. I didn't even attempt to play IWD:EE because of my experience with BG 1&2:EE.

I'm still using the originals. All I can say was doing a DVD-conversion was a really good move, and I would not recommend going back to disc swapping.
I also apologize, I had over 6 years of computing with disks before I got my first CD-ROM title, and ten years before I got my first title that required me to swap CDs, so if I say "disk swapping" instead of "disc swapping" know that it is just that "disk swapping" was ingrained from my childhood.

That's okay I knew what you meant. Like I stated I'll probably pick up physical copies just for the sake of having physical copies of my old BGs, IWDs and PST......
