[IMG] I really hope someone can help me...

Recently I had some upgrades done to my PC, so I backed up my BG2 games, resintalled the game, reinstalled the patch, reinstalled the bonus vendors, my voices and portraits, and then reloaded my saved games. I've played the game several times since then, going from Chapters 5 to 6, and, if I recall right, everything seemed to be running fine.

Then an NPC began referring to my female protagonist as a male. I didn't think much of it, thought it was a glitch with that NPC. But the next day I opened the game with Shadowkeeper to add an item to my inventory, and I noticed that all of my characters' Proficiencies are gone (that tab is completely blank for each character, and it doesn't allow you to make changes to it), and all the fields on the Characteristics Tab, such as race, gender, kit, class, etc., are blank. When you try to Set Value to one of these fields, the drop down menues that used to be available for each field now just have one choice, "Unknown Value." (They used to list all the races, all the genders, etc.) For each field, there is a numerical value listed ("0x01" is now listed for Race), but the game doesn't seem to understand them. It will allow you to manually enter a new value (replacing 0x01 for example), but I don't know what the values should be, or why the drop-down menus are screwed up.

So no one in my game appears to have races, weapon proficiencies, gendres, classes, etc. I'm not sure how deeply this is affecting gameplay.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

[IMG] I have no idea where the problem is but this is what I'd do:

    1. Uninstall
    2. Install BG2 and copy in your saves.
    3. Open Shadowkeeper and see how the save looks. If it's ok install the rest once at a time checking with Shadowkeeper after each added install to see that if it's ok.

Hopefully you will get through it without problems but if not you will at least see where the first problem occurs. Then you can ask again.

    Good Luck!

[IMG] Well, I tried reinstalling the game, and nothing was fixed. The fields in Shadowkeeper that are blank for all characters in all saved games are the Number of Attacks (on Abilities tab), everything on the Characteristics tab except Appearance and Movement Speed, and everything on the Weapon Proficiencies Tab, which is blank and inert.

I began playing around with stuff and I think I figured out the problem: It's Shadowkeeper itself. It's wiping out all of these fields whenever I open a game; if I save any changes to that game, the blank fields become permanent. I've never had this problem with Shadowkeeper before.

I just downloaded this version of Shadowkeeper on 4/15/01. I see on their site they put up an undpated version on 4/12, then another on 4/16. I suspect this is the bug the 4/16 version fixed.

[IMG] Yep, it was the Shadowkeeper program after all.

Thanks for the help, by the way!
