[IMG] I think to have the first quest with his father solved correctly, worked him up to 15th level, when he's to get his "Radiant-Heart-Test" for becoming a knight and bla. But his leveling is now 3 days ago and there's no messenger at all. Are there any pre-conditions to this. Or is this just a test of patience?

I did not notice any pre-conditions or levelling but the two times I took Anomen through was slightly different. My good guy steered him quite easily and coming back from Trademeet a guy stopped my party and told Anomen that it's time for his test.

My neutral gal had a harder time convincing him to take the lawful path and even after that, Anomen was full of self-doubt and had several temper outbursts. On completing one quest (can't remember which), he suddenly declared that he needs to go and take his test.

The results were the same both times but my good cleric decided we should part ways. My neutral sorceress kept him on.

What I felt the BG creators overlooked is the voice set and random conversation pieces for Sir Anomen. I mean, after increasing his wisdom 4 points, they should change it so that it reflects his new-found confidence and poise - something more akin to Keldorn. As it is, he still makes those irritating/arrogant comments as before his knighthood. This must be the reason why so many people dislike him. I did, however, empathise with his predicament - I think many of us have the same experience of fighting our own internal demons. Now who was it who said that own worst enemy is ourselves?

Question: what happens when to Anomen when he fails his test. My evil fighter D priest would like to take Anomen on as an aprentice of sorts, but I'd just like to know how he develops without gaining knighthood(ability wise, that is). Can he be a good fighter/cleric?

    Another Question:
If he gets to succeed will he be a paladin or still be a fighter/cleric?

He doesn't change. He's just a fighter/cleric with more wisdom then before. And he is a whine. Keldorn is much cooler...and a REAL paladin.

    And another big change:

Instead of being called Anomen, he`s now being called "Sir Anomen". Pardon me.

And for the test, did you killed your father ennemy?

Because in my first game, that what I did. And I never saw the messenger.

On the game i'm playing right now, I refuse to go kill the father's ennemy. I forced Anomen to respect the rules of the knighthood and whatever. And the messenger came not very long after this. And Anomen is only level 10 or 11.

    Comments?

    my veiw on anomen

in my game i imported my level 11 monk from another game, when i got anomen he was level 12 (level 7 fighter) cleric. he turned out to be MUCH more powerful than my other games. i gave him maulers arm (+2 mace) to use with the fortress sheild. i havent even gone to spellhold yet and he is already level 16 and is the best character in my party, surpassing even my level 16 monk. his spells are awesome.

i told him not to take vengeance for his sisters death and he was accepted into knighthood, he serves me willingly even now.

I agree. Anomen is definitely one of the best characters in the game, and I never play without at least one fighter/cleric so he's a must.
Sure, he's annoying and arrogant, but that I can live with. I can put him down every time too so it's not much of a problem. ;)
He's good as a fighter (proficient with hammers and maces). Plus he has a slew of nice clerical spells.
If you take Keldorn just for the sake of the holy avenger, you're missing out.

P.S. His shield can be used to cast protection from normal missiles on him three times a day. Very useful.

If you want my opinion on the matter, I say roast the punk into his own armor with a nice fireball or lightning bolt.

He may be a good character, but no paladin will ever be a friend of mine!

Yeah, but Anomen is not a paladin, he's a cleric.

Oh. In that case, my apologies to Anomen.

Technically, Anomen is almost the same as a Paladin, since Paladins are fighters who are able to cast priest spells. My first time through I played a Paladin (now I am trying out a fighter/mage and a Kensai) and he was able to cast up to the 5th level. Anomen then becomes a Knight (if you choose the correct path) which, in essence, is what most Paladins are.

Anomen is much better than a Paladin gets LOADS of priest spells compared to them. I met this problem that Anomen can't take his Knightship test... it is a bug that is solved in the new patch!!!! I didn't encounter any problems without taking the test... he was still pretty helpful.. and was key in the last stages of the game... DIE GLABREZU'S DIE!

[IMG] To set this topic at least somewhat in the right course, let me just say that the problem with Anomen not getting his test has been fixed in the patch.

Also, Paladins are all goody-two-shoes, as they can only be Lawful Good. Fighter-Priests can be evil. Plus fighter-priests get more spells.
