I´v trid out a couple of npc combos but without finding any really good ones. The lack of good thieves makes it quite tough (i always like to include one thief). I also dislike clerics/druids just because of their poor combat skills (in comparison to normal fighters). Anyway; what are your opinions and views on my new party ?
    Main Character:
    Sorcerer

    Fighter: Minsc
    Fighter: Korgan

    Druid: Jaheira

    Mage/Thief: Jan
    Mage/Thief: Nalia

    Seems ok ;)

though I don't have much thought about Nalia, I'd say ditch her for Imoen.

About your cleric/druid thing, Anomen can be a nice mix of fighting and healing if you give him some str enhancing items and complete his quest the good way so he gets +4 to his wisdom

I would dump Nalia and replace her with either Anomen or Aerie. Both will provide you with some extra healing spells and the ability to turn undead. Anomen can also make a decent fighter, Aerie makes a decent mage. Since you already have two mages in the group, I would go with Anomen.

I would probably dump both Jaheira and Nalia, and replace them with Anomen and Imoen. I'd at least replace Nalia with another mage (Edwin, Imoen or Aerie).
But it's your group, do as you want with it.

[IMG] I would randomly select 5 NPC's and go from there ;)

Seriously, there is no bad party combo, there is better though. But you should also weigh in what you like and keep out what you dislike.

Thanks for all the advice !

Im going to ditch Nalia after Dearnise Hold and maybe exchange Jaherira (shes kinda boring anyway) for Anomen (is he Lawful good ?). What are your opinions on jaheira ? I always felt that she lost to much hp during fights and only served as a good fighter later in the game. She has insect plague (that rocks) and healing.. Is anomen better in any way ?

Anomen can get higher level spells quicker because he has done his fighter class. Give him crom or flail of ages + girdle of strength, and he'll be fine.

I think Jaheira is good, she can get really good armorclass, as for a weapon, you should give her the blackblood club in trademeet, a nice weapon really.

The main difference is the increase in spell levels goes faster for Anomen

Jaheira also goes great with the Belt of Hill Giant Strength and the Belm Scimitar - which with 2 proficiency points gives her 3 attacks per round, impressive for a class like hers. Have this with a good shield and Great weaponry.... and she could tank in her own way(Sword and Shield Wielding fighter lady who casts good spells and whose hard to hit AC is backed up by an ability to heal herself and summon great summonlings, just love those Fire Elementals) - but that's my opinion. Any NPC can be just as great as the other...

I'd give Jaheira the edge over Anomen. They're both good fighters, but Jaheira can cast insect plague, and her ironskins make her more durable.

But Big B has it right when he says you'll be fine with any of those combinations. You'll enjoy the game more if you just kind of go with the characters who you find appealing to you more. Rotate NPCs in and out in chapter 2 to give them a chance, and keep the ones you like best for the long haul. If "Faster than Chiktikka Fastpaw!" really really gets on your nerves, you're not going to care that Aerie has stats she could solo the game with.

I've had Me (PC, Sorcerer), Keldorn, Mazzy, Jaheira, Aerie, Imoen to great effect. That gets you 3 fighters, 2 clerics, 3 mages, and a thief. :D

I go with Jaheira, Anomen, Minsk, Korgan, and Nalia; before going to the Spellhold take Yoshimo instead of Nalia, because bringing back his heart gives you lots of experience points - and he makes room for Imoen. after that I ditched Imoen for Nalia again - and did fine
