    Walkthrough Earl?

But where's the fun then? Where's the thrill? Where's the adventure?

Besides, no walkthrough will tell you every single possibility - and of course, some walkthroughs lie (in fact, all of them).

[IMG] Thank you! There are people here that have experienced hardships similar to mine and have come forward! That was actually what I was looking forward to, empathy. Wow, 5 out of 7 ran into that stupid poison hole in BG1, yes, Electric you have described the experience so clearly that I could not have done better myself. Hours of accumulated precision playing all poured down the drain because of a most mundane mistake!

Extremist, I will make sure to read your post on bugs.

Ah, Gnolyn the Gibberling, perhaps you are more cunning than I had thought, to know exactly what I had come to look for and went against it. You express no empathy for my plight, so be it! I would not expect it as you have not gone through what others like I have, so you are ignorant and not ready to put aside your side of the story and understand. Up to the point where you now add more words to my mouth to further defend your merry side, that I read a spoiler and now DESERVE to be in my situation because I cheated. Nay, it was less spoiler guides and more "compulsive reloading."

Jack, I purposely put words in your mouth to show you what it feels like. I now see why you hate violent people, I am very sorry about your brother and friend. As for your last comment, I too understand why you have lashed out because SMACK! wasn't meant to be perceived the way that you did.

Now lets start hoping that patch comes out! I want to be able to use Jan again!

[IMG] Since you'll be nice and read it, I'll be nice and post something more here - and I consider it as a cheat, ok? But since you take it as a bug, let's call it "fix" like those 3rd parties...LOL

OK, try to talk to Jan AFTER issuing this command in the console:
    CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("JanLissaPlot","GLOBAL",10)

I don't guarantee it will work. Post what happened.

    [IMG] LOL!

    Well put Extremist!

Gonna try what you suggested.. wish me luck
    ------------------------------------------
It WORKED!! YOU HAVE SAVED ME!!!
THANK YOU x(N) N=infinity, har har

Ah see, this is the greatness of forums, people helping each other out, perhaps one day in the future, in this very forum, I will be able to help you in return. Where did you get that kind of command? I have gone through many cheat sheets and have never stumbled upon SetGlobal commands. Do you know of a site where I can download a comprehensive list? Thanks again!

KangaxxJR, I feel sorry for your lost game, but what's the point of ignoring quests??? That's what you play the game for, right? Aren't you curious enough to lok what happens next?

    [IMG] KJr.
I still don't see where I put words in your mouth. My statements were a general comment about a style of play and I stand by them.

Regardless. Welcome to the board. It's a good community. If you have any more problems like that, just ask Extremist. He either knows the answer or can figure it out. Just don't get on his bad side or he won't acknowledge your posts. I was giving him a hard time and being a wiseass so he put me on the list. ;) Also don't mention Shadowkeeper. It drives him nuts. :)

    Butt kicking for goodness!

Not entirely, you mean like he chose the path less traveled? Used his head rather then follow the crowd? Ye be too vague.

    Arwen:

Oh I enjoy the quests very much. I took on almost all of the quests, I was being selective in the beginning because I wanted to focus more on the main quest, but many interesting lesser quests sidetracked me for many days instead. The Jaheira quest reminded me too much of the BG1 "Poison Hole" bug that screwed me over completely and wanted to stay away as far from it as I could. One of those, spur of the moment decisions. :p

[IMG] As bad as some of these bugs are, I haven't found anything that really stops you from finishing the game. I did not have the problem in BG1 because I took it seriously when they told me I had a time limit. I don't think thats a bug. It's been stated numerous times above.

I am currently playing Ultima 9. Compared to BG2 it is extremly weak. It is a poor ending to a great series. 8 sucked too. But in this game (which would have been great if they finished it) there are bugs that are truly show stopping. In one particular situation you are given two tasks. If you do one task, then undertake a main story task, then do the second task, you can't finish the game. There is no reason in the story for this. It is an acknowledged bug. I have not seen any like it in BG2.

There is ONLY ONE comprehensive list of console commands on the whole net (except possible Bioware's secret site). That list is of course here on SP, and noone, and I mean noone has it all, not even TeamBG.

    Here it is: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum2/HTML/003403.html

Also check the links inside that list for more details on cheating.

However, do not even think that you'll be able to figure any value for each command like I spammed above. For that you'll need to understand Infinity Engine from inside.

I don't much care if you call it a bug or just something that annoys you, Kangaxx. I just don't want to see Bioware actually implement some infuriating idiotproofing like a little "You cannot kill this person, he is important for a quest!" that pops up in front of your face if you do something dumb like try and kill a non-hostile NPC like Baron Ployer, all because some people can't live with the consequences of their actions.

If you learn to cheat to overcome your random killing sprees, that's no skin off my nose at all. Just don't screw up the rest of our games by insisting the game designers make it impossible for you to do dumb things, please.

[IMG] About invincibility of some (non-joining) NPCs: Sometimes I just have that urge to kill all the people on a map, but I save before (it's the Doom-instinct! ); it was in Umar where I started clearing out the inn and went outside. Nobody left there despite of two little children. I hesitated, but then chose to kill them, too. They just wouldn't die! That was O.K. for me, killing children is really evil, even for my LE monk Darth Vader.

When you go to the government district you will get an attempt to "hire" the mages that the guy (can't remember his name, but its the guy Jahiera is having all this trouble over), eventually you will find you way to him, and you can sort everything out.

Awesome! Thanks again Extremist for the info, I will look more into this Infinity Engine. Will it be possible for me to design my own weapons, graphics, and quests with these programs at teambg.com? How much of Baldur's Gate II can be modified with the Infinity Engine?

Jack, thanks for welcoming me, appreciate it.

A few days ago, I stumbled upon another strange hole that resulted in a non-stop repeat of my conversation with Irenicus at Spellhold when I barge into the room without the aid of the other wizards. Apparently, not even the Lvl. 9 Wish Spell (the spell Irenicus uses to wipe out my entire party) can kill my Sorceror with Spell Immunity (Necromancy) casted or the Priest Death Ward Spell. Rather funny. I tried casting spells in the small spaces of time between the repeating dialogue, but it took too long.

The same thing happens with Aerie (repeating dialogue of the same content), if you remove her before the Underdark, and take Viconia with you, do not visit Quayle past his conversation that starts the Haer'dalis quest when Aerie is in your group, and go back to the Circus Tent after the Underdark, she will have this non stop dialogue with Quayle about you and her visiting and wanting to visit for a week. Only way to get out of that is to patiently walk towards the exit in the small spaces between. And the funny thing is that afterwards, she accuses me of touching that drow, being defiled and all; I thought she was talking about Viconia! She hates Good Alignment characters! But then I remembered I slept with that Drow princess in Ust Natha, hehe whoops! How did she find out?! :)

I have all the friends I need, Kangaxx. But thanks for the concern. (-:

If I said "You know what would make this game better? Taking away the option to play it solo. Soloing sucks," I'd expect a lot of people on here disagreeing with me, saying "Don't screw up the way I like to play just because you don't like it." They'd have a darn good point. Why should they sit quietly around while I lobby for a change to the game that they'd hate if it was implemented?

Well, I don't want Bioware to listen to you and idiotproof the game even more than it already is, so I'm registering my opposition. Better that your rash actions should lead to your losing an NPC--or learning to use the cheat console, which I have no problem with--than that all the rest of us should have to put up with the narrator announcing "You shouldn't kill this person. You may need him for one of the quests" for 85% of the NPCs. There are a lot of quests in this game.

Think of it this way. You complained about two things: the fact that the game let you kill a non-hostile NPC you later regretted killing, and the invincible unkillable assassin in Aran Linvail's place. Well, guess what that assassin's there for? Idiotproofing. He's making sure that no one stupidly aligns with Aran and then kills him, losing their transport to Spellhold and making their game unwinnable. But in the process, he prevents me from, say, killing the torturer after I come back from Spellhold, if I want to. He restricts my game choices, all because some people can't figure out that killing the only guy who will take them where they're trying to go should wait until they come back.

You don't like the unkillable instant-death assassin. So what makes you thing the rest of us would like all the rest of the NPCs in the game being unkillable?
