I was reading a lot about this Golem and how hard it was to kill and as I have just finished the Windspear Hills, I must say, he wasn't what I thought he was going to be.

The battle itself was pretty straight forward and I brought him down very easily with my four front line fighter classes.

Only 25,000xp but a very nice Composite Long Bow behind him stashed away in the rocks.

I did the old Haste-run-pickup-run trick to get the bow.

They should definatly include a coward class

 

Syl's going to throw me off the boards for this one, but anyone notice how the golem can't fit through the door? Get him to the gap and just beat him to pulp with the +3 throwing axe (does about 1 hp damage per throw and only takes 15 mins for him to go down, but it's safe).

 

Throwing Axe +3? Where did you find that? I can't believe they didn't think of these things when play testing the game and could have simply added the Umber Hulk smashing ability to any creature who can't fit through a door.

Anyhow, my strategy was this:

Bless, Protection from Evil 10' Radius, Chant, Magic Resistance, and Defensive Harmony along side of a few Extra Healing Potions and Jaheira standing behind me throwing healing spells of her own.

My AC is -7 and quite frankly, the Golem didn't do much damage to me, while Valygar was the only one who's weapon didn't have any effect, but I left him attacking for distraction.

I had the Flail of Ages +3, and Minsc using that wicked talking sword, the only two who were doing damage. Korgan was behind the Golem, distracting too.

I have yet to kill a dragon fairly, but I'm looking forward to it!

Hmm, everyone is talking about this talking sword, how do I get it?

 

Your adventure for the talking sword begins when you help free the slaves from the Copper Cornet. These poor folk can be found locked in their cages, left to rot until they are summoned by rich nobles who come to watch them get killed by the beasts they are thrown in against! Don't let this happen brave warrior! Set them free just as you would want to be if you were in their shoes!

Battle hard the guards who are watching the slave pens, kill the beastmaster for his key and by doing so, you will free the real owner of the Copper Cornet, who will slay the current one running this underground slave ring!

Once this has been completed, accept the quest from the new owner, who will speak of a secret passage said to be found within the Copper Cornet, which will lead you to the Slave Stockade where more are being held. While down in these sewers, a riddle may come froth and need to be solved. Solving this riddle will gain you this very sword we speak of and of course, improve your party ten fold when in the hands of Minsc, who specializes in such two-handed weapons.

In fact, the two go hand in hand; they're both nuts!

There are more Adamantium Golems later in the game...

The only two warriors I have are my main character and Minsc. I purchased the +3Throwing axe (couldn't steal it!) that is the 'Undead Killer' -make a save or be destroyed.

It has a Speed Factor of 1 and is Minsc's main weapon from chap 2 to chap 5 where I am now. From Dragons to Vampires to Golems to any Undead it has been awesome. Most of the Iron or Adamantium Golems cannot go through doors, they are much too big. But Minsc can stay at a 'safer' distance, to protect Boo of course, and throw the Axe at a target from an adjacent room.

I'm in the dungeon in the windspear hills.
I've killed every monster but I don't find
the Adamantite Golem. Where can I find it?
Has it something to do with King Strohm's
mask? Please help!

 

At the top right of the map there are dungeon. Go in there and take a look

 

It's in that large open cavern, just past the well where the Air Elemental comes up in the bucket. There is a Captain yelling at his men (a Troll and a Hobgoblin I think). In this cavern, search for the secret passage and behind it is this very beast.

If its the one I think I melted the golem down with a fire elemental.

 

Those golems suck! My Fighter with -11ac was doing 3 damage per hit to this guy while he was hitting me for 50 odd. I left the one you spoke of behind and just donned the boots of speed and ran past it, the very same methiod I used in De'arnise keep to get the stuff from the statues. However, I had to fight another later on. Sand golems seem to have the same damage resistance but don't deal the same damege or have the hits.
