[IMG] It was astounding! It was amazing!

I tried to beat the "last" Irenicus with each of my NPCs alone. My sorceress had minor problems, so she was OK. Korgan had a hard time but cheesed (you know what I mean?). Next was Keldorn. And I was just *bang* what's up? He smashed the demons with his Avenger while Jon just built up defense and tried to hurt him. Then came the moment of truth: Korgan had been mazed about two times, which was very annoying. When Jon finished his incantation of MAZE, I stood about one screen away from him. I paused and saw the text "Slayer - Keldorn: Maze" in the console. I quickly had Keldorn cast his enormous DISPEL MAGIC on himself... he finished the dispelling in the very second the gates of the maze spell were closing in... and made them fail.

    What a feel!!!

When I wanted to play a paladin I choose an Inquisitor, so I know what you're feeling. As for the maze and imprisonment spells, the thing that gets me most about them is that you see those gates coming in on you, closer and closer...I hate that. It makes me want to run from them, hoping to doge them, but no such luck. They truly are menacing spells.

Wielding Carsomyr gives you 50% magic resistance, this might just as well have been the reason to why the spells fail. And the paladin does get a nice bonus of +2 to all saving throws

Right, but saving throws won't help you against Maze and Imprisonment, but MR will :D

    And reading Maze's description:
"A mazed creature is not free through dispel magic"

So I agree with Lokken, it was Keldorn's MR

[IMG] Imprisonment does bypass MR, I must say. :D

Hmmm...good saving throws don't help mutch against maze, because there is no saving throw against that. Even Keldorn's powerful dispel magic can't dispel maze or imprisonment(it can only be negated by the freedom spell). I agree, that the 50% MR that Carsomyr +5 provides saved Keldorn from beeing mazed.

    Actually, Inquisitor is pathetic.

My Viccy never got mazed. NEVER.
I was surprised - I even casted maze on her by myself. Again, nothing.

Then I ripped her off until she remained naked.
Again bunch of mazes - and again nothing.

Now imagine Viccy who needs to protect herself with nothing wielding Crom Faeyr against that Irenicus. Who would you take first - her or Keldorn?

If you say naked except for Crom than Keldorn would go naked except for Carsomyr. Thus each would have their 50% MR and Keldorn being a fighter type would be better in terms of THACO.

I really hate those, especially the Imprisionment one, the way you know its coming before it hits you and theres nothing you can do to get away. I always try and run away but they catch me niiiiii.

Big B, without Crom - I've put it just because of permanent STR modifier (not that there aren't a cleric spells for that...).

    So, both naked!

    Who to choose?

Does it matter? Neither of those guys could kill Irenicus solo and naked!

I think you mean you'd enjoy the VIEW more if Vicky was solo and naked... which, given Keldorn's looks, it would be very hard to dispute...!

tjek, I'm giving a serious thought to make those two available as CHR files that can be imported as main chars (Bhallspawns) to play with - with all their abilities, sounds etc...
    But, who knows...

IMHO both of them COULD kill Irenicus solo. But the right reason why I'm posting this is:

    -------------------------------------------

Ok, I experimented and found out this, my dearest BIG B.
I've put XP on both of them at 2.850.000 (max).

Then I equipped Viccy with Crom and Keldorn with Carsomyr. Nothing else was on them. Nothing. Only these two weapons. AND NO SPELLS CASTED!!!

    Viccy was proficient:
    - War Hammers +
    - Single weapon style +

    Keldorn was proficient:
    - Two handed sword ++
    - Two handed weapon style ++

    And here it is Viccy/Keldorn:

Base THAC0: 8/4 ----Seems that Keldorn is better? Not for long.
THAC0: -4/-3 -----??? You said Keldorn is warrior type?

    Ability bonuses:
To hit: +7/+1 ----??? Viccy beats the racist again!
Damage: +14/+1 -----??? OMG Viccy, I'll never let you go!

    Weapon style bonuses:
    To hit: 0/+1
    Critical hit: 0/+1

Ok, Keldorn has more HP, but what for? Viccy has better AC. Both weapons act at speed 1 so we can't compare that.

Oh, I almost forgot turn undead levels. Viccy has 21 and Keldorn 17. Again, who is better?

I don't even dare to speculate what would Viccy do with another weapon in second hand.

BIG B, you can just keep your beloved Keldorn.
If it would be possible, I would take 5 Viccies in the party after I saw this.

[IMG] OK OK E I see your point. Really I don't hate any NPC, but I do favor some more often. Thumbs up for Viccy being so good, even when she's naked

No doubt that Viccy naked is better than any characater, NPC or PC.

With that said, am I the only one that experiences he AC not meaning anything?!?! OK - she's got a great AC, but in my experience, even with the best ACs you still get hit and with her HPs, she gets clobbered quick.

I like Viccy the best as a RP character, but Keldorn with DEX enhancements seems more suvivable than Viccy with STR enhancements, IMHO.

Although, E, she still is WAY better naked...and I don't mean her fighting.

  17. /me whacks Firestorm with her staff on the head.

What the hell? Viccy is one of the best NPCs!!!! Geez, Anomen can lick the ground in front of my feet for all I care. I don't like NPCs, but I must admit that the evil NPCs are the best.

You forgot something fairly important, Extremist. Keldorn gets more attacks per round.

I will say for Viconia that she's the only non-fighter I've ever used in my front line... but the fighter-types are all much better for combat, they really are. They simply get more attacks, and they can put more specialization points in fighting styles to make themselves more deadly.
