Would it be practical to use a Cavalier or Undead Hunter as the main character, and Keldorn on the side? Since i will be using Carsomyr, Keldorn can use anything else, and i find dispel magic and true sight useful. any ideas?

Absolutely. As you probably know there is a good Paladin weapon in ToB, but even without that a second Paladin is powerful.

Is this a powergaming question or a roleplaying question? In either case, the answer is "yes," but for different reasons.

Obviously, in roleplaying, a paladin would seek to join with others who had similar views, thus, a second paladin makes perfect sense. Further, paladins being lawful and orderly, it would make sense to send out different types of paladins together to dispose of the opposition in a more orderly fashion and take advantage of the many strengths of paladin-hood.

From a powergaming standpoint, the general idea is to cover muscle and magic according to your preference, but to maximize the killing force either way. As long as you need to add muscle, why take, for example, Minsc, when you could have Keldorn? Neither one is better proficiency wise, Keldorn can wear the gauntlets of dexterity to negate Minsc's better dexterity, and Keldorn has the lovely side benefits of true site and dispel magic in the blink of an eye, freeing up your magic using characters for other spells. Further, on the powergaming mode, you can keep Keldorn as the two handed weapon wielding Paladin and make, say, your undead hunter a blunt weapon, two-weapon style machine. So, your party could be something like:

Protagonist (Undead hunter with, ultimately, Crom Faer (sp?) in the off-hand and flail of ages in the main hand)
Keldorn - Using mostly Carsomyr (with a halberd backup)
Anomen - Mace of disruption +2 anyone? Shield in off-hand, or, alternatively, have him use the Crom Faer in the off hand and have your main guy use long swords and short swords and use Arbane's sword in the off hand for the extra attack
Jaheira - Scimitars work fine, Belm gives an extra attack
Jan - need a thief (he's the only decent one) and he's a specialist mage as well
Imoen - Need a pure mage for powergaming. Robe of vecna and amulet of power to cut down casting times.

This is a nice blend of muscle and magic and does not suffer from too many paladins.

[IMG] From a roleplaying perspective I've always held the view that there should not be more than one Paladin per adventuring party.
The reason being that a second Paladin would do more good at another place. Essentially they are a sort of missionaries. Being two or more paladins at the same place is normally not the best way to accomplish their goals.

Except in this instance it really works from a roleplaying point of view. There is the great conversation with Keldorn where you can confess your heritage and he pledges to remain by your side and do whatever is necessary to help you maintain the path of goodness. I'd imagine he would be doubly concerned over helping keep one of his brothers in arms on the straight and narrow.

    [IMG] Fine...

What I meant was... It's freat in a rolplaying and action sense. Picture this: Paladin, wants to cleanse the earth of all evils when he discovers what he is... a Bhaalspawn, what could be worse? How can you fight evil while leaving innocents dead too? Simple, join up with someone with the same views, another paladin willing to look past you heratage and help steer you in the way of good. They also kick ass!

From a fighting point of view I have found 2 very effective. Two tanks are better than one.
