    While the whole thing was, in a word, disturbing, the last 15 seconds or so were probably the worst. How could anyone OK having their 8 year old daughter do that? (I mean, I know that it happens and all of that, but still!)

    I don't see what the fuss is about.. Five girls, each dressed in what pretty much amounts to a 2-part bathing suit doing a dance. I bet they don't have the faintest idea what the song is about nor do they actually imagine being pr0n stars doing the pole. If they DO, well, then it's another matter entirely and yes, rather disturbing in that case.

    I think it's a tall order to assume that kids do stuff on the same premises as us adults do. Or am I to believe my 1 yr old baby girl does early training on giving a blowjob when eating a banana in a funny way? :p

    Edit: Also, what's the next step? Banning the music video for Lambada since it's got both a girl AND a boy in about the same age doing something CLEARLY suspicious? :rolleyes:

    Sir Rechet, the issue is not the girls' motivation . The point is that other people (adults, and most notably the kids' parents) think this dance is appropriate for 8 year old girls to perform.

    My wife owns and runs a dance studio. She choreographs and trains girls from age 2-20 every day. And though she had to admit that technically speaking, the girls were very impressive dancers and so was the choreography, the outfits and gyrating kicked the ick factor up to appalling levels. Way too over the top. Even if they were 16 she thought it would have been a bit much. Someone ought to have words with that choreographer, and the parents should visit a strip club.

    For me, it was the outfits that put it over the top more than anything.

    Honestly, the dance and the costumes are no worse than what I saw my peers that were in dance classes doing in the 1980's. The big difference is that they would never have chosen so adult themed a song.
    So, to say this is a "new" problem isn't truthful, IMO. I was seeing it nearly 30 years ago.
