Here's the deal I got to the final Irenicus Battle in 9 days and 17 hours,
but when I was fighting him the clock moved to 18 hours.
    I was sooo close!
I was playing with a barbarian.
Does anybody have any idea how to knock a few minutes off my time?

Barbarian moves faster than almost any other character,
so if I choose another character he'd better be quite a fighter to make up for the lost time.

[IMG] I finished in 7 days and 9 hours (yes I do mean ingame time) in the least time but that was like my third time around. :p I bet I can now do it in less time.

    @StressedE:

A Monk moves faster than the Barbarian. It is also not as powerful when low-level, but still possible. You also don't need that many items, so you can skip a few quests.

What is really nica, is that a monk can wear the Amulet of Power!

    @Keneth:

I tend not to believe you. A final save would be nice to see.

    Kenneth,

According to another topic currently being discussed, it takes a week to get to Brynlaw. So how did you do the game in 9 hours (game time)?

A week? I don't believe that happened in my game. I never tried to do it after I got the patch but I'm pretty sure that didn't happen before. Perhaps just one of those 'good' bugs in the game.

Look I'm not trying to lie here I have no reason to do so, I'm only trying to tell my tale. If you don't wanna believe me that's fine just forget that I said anything OK.

Heh, well that time is technically impossible.
The earliest you can leave bodhi is like 9 days 0 hours or so.
Maybe you changed the clock with console :D

Monks move faster yeah, but at certain level they get immune to haste :(
Overall I believe a monk will be slower...

Thank you for your contribution Gothmog ;)
btw, for those who misread this post:
with finishing the game I meant SoA, not the entire saga

[IMG] Just a word of caution: Before posting in this topic with some claim to a new fantastic time where you shave another hour or even more :toofar: you had better be prepared to back it up with saves and screenshots. StressedE knows what he's talking about when it comes to this... and so do I for that matter. :)

    @StressedE
Did you use one of your old saves from the "race" we had or is this a brand new game?

This was an entirely new game.
This time around my time was way close!
I was dual weilding for more agressive power.
Also I was continuesly on 24 str potions for more damage.
I got to Irenicus within the time limit,
but as soon as the fight started I was to late.

To improve my time I will either need to be able to fight faster, or run faster.
    Run faster is impossible.
If I had some way through those stoneskins and mantles, I would probably be fast enough.
    But I was playing barbarian.

    Maybe Inquisitor would do better.
Carsomyr and dispel magic(every hit + special ability) + Full plate. And potions of speed until boots come.

    [IMG] Exactly...

And to get Carsomyr you just have to spend two extra days for the Windspear journey...

Hmm, staff of the magi would be better than Carsomyr.
In my experience staff of the magi's dispell magic is far more powerful than that of Carsomyr.
Problem is I'd have to play fighter mage or kensai mage.
A level 1 mage is definately not going to do much without resting.
Fighter mage would be less agressive.
The special ability dispel magic is nice, but only casting it once a day... I dunno.

[IMG] No, but thanks anyway. :)

    A few more questions:
    - How many monster did he kill?
    - When did you use the Mace of Disruption+2?
    - Are the Boots of Speed and Barbarian speed bonus cumulative?
    - Any other melee weapons you seriously considered using?
    - How problematic was the money concern early on? Since I did my solo speed with a F/M/T, stealing and selling, I'm unsure about this. What early quests or other things did you do to get the cash? At least the Sling of Everard will cost you a pretty penny. :)

I'm getting all excited by this so I'm probably going to speed this now. Have to start planning, it's been awhile since I did this. :p

Another question, but a very important one I think:
    - Do you arrive at Suldanesselar at 9 days 16 hours?

Are you guys playing with either TOB installed or EXP cap remover installed?

Reason I ask is of course that at a guess you'll hit the SoA cap fairly early on otherwise?

    Just curious.

"- How many monster did he kill?"
510,(511 if you count irenicus as a monster :D ) but he could have killed more.
During the underdark I breached the X-Cap.
I have ToB installed, but decided not to press that button level up anymore because it wouldn't be fair towards other challengers.
So I left the underdark while still having time to spare.

"- When did you use the Mace of Disruption+2?"
Every time I faced an enemy who could level drain.

"- Are the Boots of Speed and Barbarian speed bonus cumulative?"
Good question and a rather important one too.
    I never thought of that.
Unfortunately I don't think I know enough of the game to answer that question.
We'll need someone with more debug experience like Extremist.

"- Any other melee weapons you seriously considered using?"
I wanted a really agressive character so the battles are short.
This means Kundane so I got 5 attacks per round.
In my on hand I wanted a good single hand weapon,
so I chose celestial fury because it's +3 and because it's very powerfull.
Looking back I could have chosen any weapon for the off hand because poitions of speed also give the extra attack,
and they don't raise it to 6 when weilding kundane.
At that time: no I didn't consider it
Now: Yes a +3 weapon would be better (or a +0 weapon to get past prot magical weapons)
but I still think it's a difficult choice,
    and I'm open to suggestions.

"- How problematic was the money concern early on?"
I wasn't exactly swimming in money,
but with a bit of budgetting it works out quite fine.
I also used the shield of balduran to clear the beholder lair. (I mentioned this for the money)
Just remember to wear that ring of human influence in shops ;)
You don't need sling +5 until you are ready to attack kangaxx,
so that's an item you can postpone buying quite a while.
I'll post a list of the quests I did later.

"- Do you arrive at Suldanesselar at 9 days 16 hours?"
I made over 100 saves, so that's just a matter of looking up ;)
    Yep, 9 days and 16hr's
