[IMG] the leader of my party and 2 more of my guys has killed things much more powerful than ice golem champions yet that 'most powerful vanquished' thing kept saying that ice golems are the most powerful they have killed.I've also encountered this problem in the first IWD.What's going on?

It might be bugged, but it is just a likely that the game uses different criteria than you do in its decisions. The crystal and ice golems have a wide range of high end immunities and resistances, which will inflate their dificulty in absolute terms. It may not be that hard for a player to switch everyone to blunt weapons and smack them around, but they are still 'hard'.

And individual circumstances dictate how hard a particular foe is, too. One of the more challenging fights I had in the game was against a mob of olive slimes. I was surrounded by them in a narrow corridor and had foolishly traded in my +1 weapons with elemental damage for the generally better +3 and +4 weapons available at the time. The weapons basic damage and special effects were useless against the slimes and the very narrow nature of the terrain meant I'd do more damage to my guys than to the slimes with my AoE spells. That fight was very ugly. One of my characters, cut off from the others, was forced to rely on lamp oil potions as his only weapon. Fortunately, my druid had Flameblade in memory. My 12th level party might have been wiped out otherwise.
