Since we have talked about music and films, I am curious to know if anyone here has been to a country other than there own and if so, which one they liked best and why.

 

I've been to Japan, Kyoto and Korea. Korea was hell frozen over for me because I was used to the constant heat and humidity of Singapore. The food there was nice but I couldn't understand anybody over there as I didn't speak Korean. Japan's weather was milder. Overall, the city of Kyoto looked like a larger version of my homeland, a highly modern city with many recreational facilities: video arcades and the like. Porn vending machines, however do not exist at home. The japanese language sounds so melodic that I could hear them speak for hours.
I've been to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas too. My tour group stopped over at Las Vegas for only a night but I wasn't prepared to gamble anyway. Language didn't prove a problem at all in America as I speak english fluently. I was educated in British english, however, so I was pretty irritated by the way some Americans slur their pronuonciation. Things are so much cheaper in America, so I did a lot of shopping, buying at least 15 novels, many clothes and Playstation games. America's a nice place, but the streets after dark just radiate menace and the amount of litter is incredible. I'm not trying to be snobbish here, but 5 pretty girls carrying a bag full of money could walk Singapore's streets(which are litter-free) at any time of the day without fear. Ok, ok, put down your guns. Long live America.
Just an extremely watered down summary of my travels.

 

Whoa really? Based on what I hear in those Japanese Samurai films I thought it sounds like dogs barking!

But then again, I also think that English sounds like dogs barking too.

 

Ah..but when Japanese women speak....

 

I've been to Wales, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Malaysia. Of those countries, i prefer (apart from England) Singapore cos i lived there for 5 years and my first girlfriend came from there...did i mention 90% of my family comes from there?

 

Well since the US is so large, I've been to less foreign place than some of you other folks. Beside Canada (not to offend) which is almost exactly like the US except for Quebec, I've only been to Portugal. Compared to the US I'd take Portugal's culture everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. The only down side, and it is a big one, is the lack of technology, confort and convience I've become use to living in the US. I planning to go back to Europe soon, this time to visit Norway. It sould be cool. I'm also interested in seeing the UK and Ireland.

 

I've been to Russia, Ukraine, Wales, England, Scotland, Finland, Canada, Mexico, and France. I'm flying to Italy for 10 days in March! One of the cool things about being a student with a full time job...Spring Breaks are a lot more fun!

I've also been to 25 of the 50 states!

So far, my favorites are Russia and the UK! Russia was awesome because I lived there for about 3 months in 1992. The day I landed in St. Petersburg, was the last day of the Soviet Union - it was a cool time to be there.

I loved the UK! Especially Scotland and Wales...I spent most of my time running around castles and hanging out in pubs. The people were very friendly!

I spent a couple of days in Germany, which I absolutely loved. Beatiful country, great food, and really nice people. Most people I ran into spoke English however, so language wasn't a problem, but then again I only saw two cities and they were stationed around Air Force bases.

I have been to Canada and Mexico, wich I have enjoyed, but still do kind of look like parts of the US.

And Saudi Arabia, which I didn't like at all.

I was in England over night, so I don't count it, cause I didn't see much of it.
It was on the way back from Saudi Arabia and since I hadn't had a bath (just showers) in 35 days nor a drink. I took a hot bath and drank down a couple of V's and orange juice.
It was lovely.

Yes, America does have some draw backs as far as the liter and crime go, but it has so many other great things about it that make me glad I live here.

In two years I am plannig a trip to Scottland with a highschool friend of mine. I am very excited about that. Eventually, I would like to visit England (for real), and Ireland, and Germany for an extended stay this time around. Being that my background is Scottish, Irish, English, and a smigin of German I figure it would be appropriate.

Hmmm.

Been to ALL of the UK (even Wales ) and I've also been to Italy, Canary Isles and France.

I don't get to travel a lot because my Dad's in the Navy, so he's never home.

But when I'm older my arse is heading over Ibiza side, baby! Whoo!

I like greece, the weather, the food, the language, the history (if you like that kind of thing)
and this warming alcoholic stuff made from honey.
