A little help with "Tale of a Mage"...

    Been playing though the "Tale of a Mage" mod and I found myself stuck. I arrived in the magic town (Brynil or something) and wound up apprentice to a necromancer. He sent me on a few fetch missions before sending me to get the blue crystal from some other wizards tower. So, now I'm in that guys tower, and I found him and the crystal...

    And I'm dead. No matter what I do, I can't seem to kill him, or hardly even damage him.

    I think I'm supposed to do...something...to the crystal, but nothing works.

    Any ideas?
