They retired to their beds. Mistle's sleep was disturbed by the apparition of a poor beggar who had frozen to death in the Inn. She resolved to try to help the earthbound spirit.

They rose early and went exploring. First to the docks where they saw the Waterbaron's armoured barge and a sailing barge called the 'Black Pig'. Remembering this from the note Garacaius asked the guard who owned it - Black Swan Coster came the reply. The guard knew nothing of Jack Summer and suggested they try the Four Seasons Coster. They crossed town and spoke to the owner, Eli Summer, who claimed his son Jack was away on business. When Garacaius suggested son Jack might be a crook Eli became angry. Mistle noticed the portrait on the wall looked thinner than the Jack they knew. Under cross examination Eli admitted that Jack Summer had been kidnapped by a 'Springheel Jack' and that Eli was not allowed to trade and had to find 1000gp ransome.
"Of course" said Garacaius "the disguise kit - our 'Jack' was an imposter!"
"Fear not" claimed Jakob, "I have a cunning plan ...."
