I had a final save in BG1, moved over to the BG2 save folder, and tried importing. However, I found that I could not use any kit. At all. Even for a paladin (which should never have any alignment conflicts) I can't. I had ToB, the official ToB patch, balderdash ToB fixpack, ascension, ease of use (a few things in it, not all) installed, not sure if they were the cause. What's wrong here? Must I import with no mod installed?

Have you tried just impoting your character insted of your game. I am not to up to date on the technical aspects, but it usually works for me.

Jaguar is correct. You cannot import your finalsave. What happens is at the final save, your char. is exported to the character directory, char1. Copy this to the character directory of BG2, and import it at character generation.

No, I don't think it's because of the final save problem. I tried using my older (much older) BG1 saves, and they worked - I could choose a kit. I tried with the paladin character file at the final save, and I couldn't. So my guess would be that somewhere along the way my old save somehow got corrupted, but it, amazingly, didn't affect my BG1 play experience at all, because I had a relatively bug free and crash free BG1 game, as far as I can recall. :hmm: Weird.
