A question for cigar enthusiasts

I'm looking for a tidbit of help, actually. So here's the deal - I found a box of Don Carbone flavored cigarillos. Don't ask me how someone could lose cigars - I have no damn idea.

Unfortunately, I underestimated how hard finding a place that sold those cigars, BIG time. I went ahead and enjoyed the box - those were the best damn flavored cigarillos I had in my entire life.

Anyways, I tried Googling the name Don Carbone... with frightening few results. I DID found some caramel-flavored cigars, but it's really the flavored cigarillos - or any kind of flavored blunt-sized cigar - I'm after.

Here's a pic of the box of the said cigars. All I know for sure is that they were of Cuban make - I instantly recognized the perticular taste of Cuban cigars.

I never sampled that brand but if it's Cuban I guess it must be pretty good.

I love cigars. Unfortunately good ones are too expensive.

 

Barmy, if there is one thing years of cigar-sampling have taught me, it's when it comes to cigars, the best often are expensive. But, this is a realm where no compromises should be made. I was smoking cheap cigarillos, and eventually made my way up the quality ladder, and trust me, when you go Cuban, you never, ever want to go back. I've got a few boxes of cognac and rum dipped Cubans laying around - can't remember the name - and the taste of those amazing Cubans is second to no other cigarillos -- the others are not even close.

 

They sound superb. I'll buy some off you :-)

 

I'll send a copy of this thread off to Bill Clinton and see if he has any advice for you!

(Oh, come on, everyone, when you're talking cigars the Bill Clinton joke is freaking mandatory!)

 

No Don Carbone yet. A friend of mine has recommended a cigar lounge, said I might find what I'm looking for there. Failing that, I found a place which is supposedly a specialist in Cuban cigars/cigarillos. Could be worth the trip.

I have to agree about going Cuban. I bought two boxes of Cubans in Jamaica last year - they were excellent!

I could hardly believe it myself, but those cigarillos popped up at the place I work. I was all giddy at first (even though I thought a little odd that Cuban would pop up in a Mac's), until I realized those were the cheap, non-cuban variety which tastes like utter crap, TBH. What a disappointement those were.

But, not all that bad, we also got Colts Mini. Not as good as true Cuban cigars (like Al Capone, now that's some kickass cigars) or Dutch (Panter are simple amazing), but they taste surprisingly good and are wrapped in a tobacco leaf, as any true cigar should be.

 

Say, DotW, might as well ask you - I bought some cigars for friends while I was in the Philippines, and one colleague there was coming here so I asked her if she can buy some more. What do you think of Philippine cigars (if you tried them, of course), and which ones are good and reasonably affordable?

 

Shaman, unfortunately, I can't help you on that one, as I never had the pleasure of sampling any kind of cigars from Philippine. The cigar guy who supplies us at work has brought some very interesting additions to our cigar display, so I could ask my boss if the cigar guy knows any brand of cigars from the Philippines (sp?).
