[IMG] If anyone still thinks that Boo does not have any secret powers that he uses to help Minsc fight evil then read this:

Somehow it just seems so right. The CIA spend billions on sophisticated technology. MI5 train Gerbils :(

That reminds me of another story I heard. the one about how much NASA spent on developing a super duper ball point that could still operate in the difficult zero gravity of space. The Russias gave their Cosmonaugts pencils. :)

NASA scientists can be goofy. A multi-million dollar spacecraft crashed into the side of Mars because some dumb NASA guy forgot to convert miles to kilometers.

I didn't think gerbils were all that trainable. Mabye I should get one! :D

Serora - That's a rather simplistic explanation of what happened to the Mars Climate Observer. First nobody "forgot" to do the conversions, the need for the conversion was unknown because it was not communicated properly. Second, it was newtons vs. pounds force. And finally, even with the error, the problem should have been detected and wasn't, so it wasn't the fault of one dumb person.

. . . thinking that BTA is an engineer . . . or has seen the movie SPACE CAMP so often that he's very protective of NASA. . .

I'm all for this. I can foresee a future where we get Rodents to fight all our major battles. Personally, I'd side with Canada and their elite force of Wolverines. They'd rip the American Squirrles and the Soviet Rats to shreds.

Heh, heh... You got me there Mathetais (though I've never seen Space Camp) :) And no offense was intended Serora, it's just that that kind of imprecise thinking is exactly the cause of the Mars Climate Observer mishap... :)

Hey, that reminds me of something crazy I heard about kamikaze robot ants crawling up tanks' exhaust pipes. I wonder if anyone seriously researched anything like that...

I have a great article somewhere here about a US experiment in the second world war to train fruit bats to carry really little incendiary bombs in the windows of Japanese buildings... the plan fell apart when, in the test launch, they dropped their first five batloads out of the window of a B-25 bomber and the half-asleep bats, still groggy from hibernation, snoozed all the way to a messy death 5000 feet below. The few that did recover from hibernation apparently had already done so before takeoff and had somehow freed themselves, setting fire to a hangar and the general's car.

    Leave it to the government.

They are always trying to make something out of nothing! Monkeys I could see, because they show some intelligence, but gerbils?

    That's just plain wierd.
