'Allo and greetings. My friend and I have picked up Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal again recently and have decided to add a little more spice into into this play-through by using the Templates mod by Lavir. It's a clever little mod, by all appearances, and I've been able to actually tweak a few of the files to add my own custom template to the mix, but that's all well aside the point. We've run into a small snag, and the Search function returned nothing that addressed it, thus I would like to present it to you all.

Specifically, the spell Animate Dead appears to be non-functional while in the Lich template, either for Clerics or Mages. Attempts to use this spell report "Spell Ineffective", even if activated by sequencers or contingencies. Other summons tested so far have been largely operative; Hakeashar and Summon Fiend notably proved fully functional.

I should note that we're playing Throne of Bhaal unpatched. I realize the most obvious solution would be to ensure the latest patch in active, but we've had trouble getting my friend's machine to patch. It rejects it for some curious reason. So, if you can kindly forgive us the necessary stupidity of playing unpatched, could you offer any insight into why this spell falters? It's unfortunately quite popular between us.

Any thoughts on the matter are most appreciated. Thank you much.
