[IMG] So my wife let's her anti-virus expire without tellig me or doing anything about it on her PC. Now, she keeps getting a Microsoft Security Alert, over and over, showing that her PC is being attacked. So I started researching this on the Web. Apparently, this is malware, which tries to get you to buy Anti-AID, which does nothing for your pc whatsoever. We won't buy it, but I can't get rid of it. I tried a few sites online that show solutions, one which did remove about 40+ files of trojan crap, but the alert still keeps popping up. Constantly. To compound matters, since she no longer has anti-virus protection, trying to surf the web is about impossible, as she keeps getting messages everytime she tries to navigate to another link, stopping her from being capable of visiting just about any site. A few get thru, like google, but most are now blocking her out. I have tried to renew Norton's via her PC, but can't access any site that allows me to do this.

Does anyone have any experience with this? If I purchase McAfee, would this solve my problem? Any suggestions?

I read that over the weekend Kit, very imformative BTW, thanks! My issue is still pending after trying this program though. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antiaid

It seemed to remove a lot of files with Anti-AID in the name, but apparently not everything, as the program keeps giving me the alerts. I also ran CCleaner and SpyBot. Spybot removed 4 more Trojan files, but it is still popping up. I then manually went into the registry and ran a search for Anti-AID, finding nothing. I didn't unplug her internet connection though, I will have to do that tonight when trying some other solutions.

I am a PC retard, but not totally, I can follow directions if led in the right direction. I will try Spyware Doctor tonight, as another site shows this as a possible solution.

I anyone has any other suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!:)

I must be getting lazy in my old age, because lately, I've been telling people to just reformat their HDD and start over when my guide doesn't fix their problems.

    You are no different. :p

Have you tried ThreatFire? That may be able to stop it from running as you try to remove it.
