Noticed this problem with playing records with the Linux music players I have (Rhythmbox & Sound Juicer) that when the song changes it makes a small pause between the songs. With most of the records I have this wouldn't be a problem but some albums have bridges between the songs that would require the songs to to be played ongoingly.

It's annoying when the shift between the songs shoud as smooth as possible or nonexistent and then 'snap' there's a small pause and the flow is disrupted.

Have you had this problem? Is there a player that wouldn't do this? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

In Winamp, there's a setting for this... but I don't know if there is a Linux version of it available.

You actually are a Linux user?!? :jawdrop: :jawdrop:

But anyway, the best music player you can get for Linux is without a doubt XMMS. It's basically Winamp for Linux, with 99.5% of Winamp's signature functions... I think the one you are looking for is part of it.

Which distro do you use? In (X)(K)Ubuntu, I think it's possible to get it via the Synaptic package manager (though I think it's necessary to add a repository), or you can simply download the tarball and compile the program yourself.

@DoTW: Uhh...now I haven't been a Linux user before, but my brother-in-law gave me a computer he didn't need and of course he put Linux in it 'cause he's a wiz with computers.

It's a kind of a joke really, me using Linux, since my knowledge of computers has been limited to how to use the net, how to write stuff with it and how to format c: and reinstall Winblows.

So which distro I use? I really haven't used any distro yet...But XMMS, you say? Check.

    AmaroK beats XMMS any day.

And oh, just go into a console and do "sudo apt-get install amarok xmms", and it'll ask for your password and install them both, no matter which of the *buntus it is.

Also, the Ubuntu Guide. Very useful.

Umm thanks, tried to do that but it didn't work. So I tried the synaptic package manager and it said this

But xmms seemed to be installable, so that's what I got now.

Yup, that's your problem with Linux right there, thousands of packets and they all need to be installed if you want to play a bloody mp3.
That made me even write my own mp3-encoder/decoder/player, using libmad and ffmpeg.

I dare say that the road I took saved me a *lot* of frustation :)
