Anybody else that still plays this game except me. Well anyway I have just started play this game again and there are some things I have to ask you guys.

    1. (weird one) Whats the diffrence betwen a lantern and the hand made electric light?

    2. How do I get Loghaire to join me? I have tried anything but he still refuses to get out of that damn cave of his.

    3. Do you have to be a Half-Orc to be able to join that rebelling Half-Orc in Tarant?

Well thats all. I hope somebody can answer these questions.

I don't play it anymore, but i'll answer the first question. Can't remember the 2nd and the 3rd i never tried, so...
Anyway, the difference between a lantern and a handmade electric light should be pretty obvious, one's electric and the other isn't. A lantern is burning thanks to oil i think

IIRC, the main advantage of the electric light is that it's a component for the miners' helmet, which allows you to have a light with both hands free.

    1) The lantern doesn't put out as much light as the electric light. And the miner's helmet let's you keep a hand free. All lights let you see the traps on the floor, much easier. If you are a master at traps, you'll find all of them in the game, without light. If you're just a mere apprentice, then that light will let you see a WHOLE bunch that you would have otherwise stepped on. There is a magic spell that confers light to your person, but only for a short time. The miner's helmet is one piece of equipment that really does come in handy thoughout the entire game. One tech that is worth getting, as soon as possible.

    2) Loghaire is kind of tricky. Read a walkthough. You have to convince him that his proper place is the throne, but you cannot insult him. There may very well be a dialogue choice that only comes up if you have done something specific. Or have a certain amount of wisdom. Check a walkthrough for the exact specifications, but I've gotten him in my party before. So it's definately possible, and I'm thinking it has to do with your dialogue choices and a minimum wisdom level.

    3) I dunno about "joining" the half-orc. I know there's two resolutions; both end up with him dead. You whack him yourself, or let him get whacked by someone else. Either way, he's dead. Go affirmative action.

There is another resolution, ejsmith. If you don't agree with the captain, you can talk to Councilman Babcock, the gnome (or possibly halfling), who will suggest a plan - and if you have sufficient speech skill (or some other stat) you'll be able to persuade the half-orc that the plan's worth going along with. It takes him on quite a different path from getting whacked :) As for joining him, I know that there's a dialogue option where you can say something along the lines of "I want to join you, let us set Tarant alight" or something, but he says you don't understand what you're letting yourself in for. I've never really tried to follow that path to its conclusion, though.
