I just felt like venting a little about this, and I was wandering if I was alone in this complaint.

The AI is staggeringly bone-headed at times, much more so than I ever noticed in BG2 (that's to be expected, I know, but still...)

For instance, I like to put Dynaheir on "Wizard (Aggressive)". Most of the time it works...but how about a "Wizard (Aggressive), but DON'T-TRY- TO-HIT-CAVE-BEARS-WITH-YOUR-STICK-WHEN-YOU'RE-OUT-OF-SPELLS!!!" option? Does the AI not understand that this just leads to a dead Dynaheir?

I just always imagine my hero taking Dynaheir aside, and explaining to her that she's a Mage. M-A-G-E. Mage. Minsc is a Ranger. Minsc is wearing chain mail. You're a mage. You're wearing what appears to be a nightgown. Put that 17 intelligence to work on it.

Am I just not seeing a more sane AI strategy? She's behaving more like "Wizard (Berserk)" than what I interpreted "Wizard (Aggressive)" to be.

I think there's a script in which the character runs away the moment he sees an enemy. You might try it sometimes :D .

[IMG] I sometimes don't bother with AI and just set it to none - or press the button if it's for temporary reasons

I prefer to control the people myself - AI is for when I can't be bothered ;)

Instead of writing your own script you might just want to edit the script and delete the three lines or so which makes her attack with a stick.

[IMG] I only use AI on making my thief hide in shaddows. Everything else i do myself, for the very reason that i don't want my high AC people going into meelee. It doesn't take that much more effort, and you can save your spells for when you really need them.
