I'm not sure if this advertisement is sincere, or an attempt to parody their movement.

 

Ah yes, global warming folks are totalitarian and will bloodily crush every dissent. Right.

I'm all for a sick sense of humour. But the thought of killing people for having an opinion different from your own is rather... facist. It's rather ironic that the most vocally 'anti-facist' individuals are actually virulent facists themselves.

 

That is what is called "A dirty little secret" It is the old "I support your right to free speech, as long as you say things I agree with".

 

Free speech involves the right to express viewpoints unsupported by facts or scientific consensus.

I only object to the selling such a view as science because it is 'the dissenting view', 'the other side of the story' or some such. If it doesn't pass scientific peer review there is no other side of the story. IMO the 'dissenting view' on climate change is largely lobby funded and consistent with other lobbying efforts. It seeks to poke holes into scientific models and theory and doesn't offer own credible research. The 'outing' and taking out of context of those stolen e-mails is one of the many attempts to discredit climate research through foul play.

To my dismay, recently the US anti climate change lobbyists have founded an offspring institute in Germany and extended their lobbying work to my country, inviting all the usual anti-climate folks (including that ignorant buffoon Lord Monckton) active in the US to conferences they started holding in Germany. The horror. One would wish that America could at least try to contain locally their politicking, but no ...

It's the same as with the anti-evolutionists, who use the same approach, and are content trying to poke holes into the 'theory of evolution' (which, for a reason is a theory and not a law) instead of engaging in genuine research. They are utterly free to insist on their view, but please, spare us the travesty of dressing it up as science.

 

That's why we allow climate change proponents to express their viewpoints. Even pseudoscience should be allowed a forum for discussion.

Is it impossible to think human societies that are capable of doing other things on a massive scale-such as moving mountains, starting and stopping rivers, laying paths of concrete that span continents, and on are somehow not capable of affecting the air on a massive scale as well?

I think the ad is tasteless but the reality is that environmentalists (by an extremely large majority) usually are not running around trying to kill people who disagree with them.

The add is absolutely disgusting, and the add people that made it should never work again.

See what I did there? See how I didn't generalize this to all the eco-supporters out there, or even all the eco-freaks out there (a much smaller population)?

Sorry, I've been on Newsvine during lunch recently and the number of idiots that generalize one other idiot's actions to an entire population is staggering.
