My dream has come true. Someone is making a mod for IWD2 with the Baldur's Gate 2 storyline :)

It looks really promising, and sofar the only downpoints I've seen are that since it uses IWD2's spellsystem, so we'll miss out on a few spells (like contingencies) because they're not in IWD2's spellsystem.

Here is a link to the modmaker's website, with additional information.

    I'm so happy! :spin: ;)

can you do fog and fireball etc spells without hurting your party members?
I remember doing horrid wilting in BG2 without hurting your party members, but in iwd2, you cant. also, will there be casting time reducing items in it? sorry to be asking all these q's, but i, well, you know

Who cares about the spells, a protagonist isn't cool if he doesn't use a sword!

But what weapon profiency will Katana's use? Bastard sword maybe?

The spells will use the IWD2 format, so basically all spells will be the same as in IWD2.

Katanas will probably take the bastardsword (exotic weapon) proficiency, yes.

The only downside to it I can see is the crummy 3E XP system. Defeating Firkraag will net about 500 XP split between the whole party. Somehow that just doesn't have the same appeal as the whopping 64,000 you get for killing him under 2E XP rules.

Hopefully (please god!!!) they'll leave in the option to play by which XP rules you like.

I was a little worried about that because in the screen shots it shows the 18000 or so xp for rescuing Aerie. A 6 person party would score around 3000xp each! And that is way too much for 3E rules. I don't really care which system so long as it doesn't end up that by killing Firkraag you go up 10 levels. That would be stupid since the IWD2 engine is hard coded to max at level 30. I think a modified BG2 style xp system would still suck.

It's a work in progress. When it is finished, you should find it on the website I linked to.
