Is it me, or in spite of the fact that today's monitors are generally bigger than the old AppleColor RGB Monitor I got with my first computer (an Apple IIGS), the fonts in many games are being rendered smaller and smaller to the point that they are being rendered smaller than the 80-column display on that old system?
Battletech is just one of the most egregious examples, but Rule The Waves is only marginally better.
Worse, if you try to use the display DPI scaling (now called "make everything bigger"), stuff goes off the screen and can't be seen or clicked on, with no way to scroll. The "Make text bigger" is often ignored, or simply causes the text to get big and mixes with other text on games, go off the screen, or interferes with other stuff.

Why do game developers like text smaller than 10 pixels on high resolution displays? Why can't they stick to a minimum of 10 points, instead of making text smaller than the average legal document.
When I open Wordpad and set it to 10 points, the text is readable at 100%. Yet games insist on using text smaller than that. Why?
With the advent of larger monitors, I thought the text would be more readable, just like a bigger screen meant it was easier to see details on TV. Not so much since they also increase the resolution, overcompensating for the larger size so a 10-pixel font looks even tinier on a larger high resolution monitor than an old lower-resolution one.
