Fanten cast entangle ahead of the party members so the Orcs would be slowed, Valnar started swinging his axe and chopping bits of Orc off; Deela pulled her bow about and started shooting Orcs.

Culculna heard the cry, and glancing at Deela, set off in the direction of the orcs. As he did, he began the song of Kealina, a great elven high mage that held an entire orcish horde at bay until reinforcements. Culculna did not personally like the tale, because Kealina died at the end. Fortunatley, he only needed to sing the first verse to cast his spell, as the first verse told how Kaelina appeared out of the mists at the foot of the Icekissed Mountains and put half of the orcish army to sleep...

Fanten saw the orcs trying to get through the entangled area mostly without luck, those that did were quickly hamstrung by Fenris, Shalm and Valnar and they were being dispatched by the captain and his men, along with Skif's help. The trapped Orcs were being peppered with arrows from Deela and Ja'a'la, whilst Silviras was using his war scythe to great effect while on the wing. In moments it was all over and the party had finished its first enemy engagement. Fanten looked out as the entangle spell died down "Skif, why don't you see if you can find anything useful on them, and then if Ja'a'la has no objections we'll leave them ofr the crows and as an object lesson that Orcs cannot walk through these woods uncontested.

"Then if everything's ready we'll move on again"

With a cry of glee, the gnome practically pounced on the fallen orcs and deftly searched their prone bodies for trinkets. There were a few gold and silver pieces, a couple gems, some weapons (which she decided were worthless because she couldn't use them) and something else. The final orc had something hard under his dirty vestment. "Eww, eww, eww!" Skiffle whined as she reached under the ratty cloth and pulled out a small, greasy-feeling book. "Hey, mage lady! Is this thingamawhatchadoody yours?" Skif waved the book high (okay,a few inches) in the air for Deela to see.

Ja'a'la smiled at Skiffle then turned to Fanten, "It is good that the orcs will feed the land. At least useful in their death."

She scratches Shalm behind the ears and checks to make sure she has no injuries.

"No Skif, that looks to be a spellbook or grimoire, it's no use to me but I'm sure we can find someone who can use it." I heard Fanten to one side of me clear his throat

"Right then shall we carry on, Skif and Ja'a'la and Valnar scout ahead, Silviras overhead the rest of us will follow" and on we moved again, the scouts moving out.

Scouting wasn't nearly as much fun as burglaring, but you take what you can get (without anybody seeing ;) ). Skiffle snaked through the forested area surrounding herself and her allies, carefully searching for signs of...things.

She skirted the edge of a clearing in the canopy, glancing upward to see that Avariel flitting around in the sky. She closed one eye and mimed shooting the winged elf with her bow. A glint caught her sharp eyes. Scampering in that direction, she pulled out a broken, nubby stick inlaid with gold rings. She rubbed the shiny object against her shirt to make it really sparkle.

Going as quickly as possible, she went back to the Talls of the party and showed off her new find. "Check it out, Hymie! I found a pretty stick!" she bubbled. Plucking out her dirty blouse, she made a face and said, "Oh yeah, and dragon poo."

"Seriously, that's what it is!" she yelled at the disbelievers. "C'mon, I'll show you then." Huffing, she lead anyone following her to the spot. She pointed out the dung heap and glanced up at her friend. "If you tell me that ain't dragon poo, I'll-" Skiffle caught herself with a chuckle. "Oh no. Not this time. I won't spill the beans that early again! Just keep in mind that it will be nasty and gross and utterly disgustipating if you tell me I was crawling in poo other than a dragon's to get this baby staff."

Ja'a'la laughed. "I would not think of contradicting you. I am not an expert on dragon poo but something very big made that pile. Unless a lot of 'little folk' decided to make a pile for the fun of it. Now this baby staff of yours let us see if we can figure out what it is."

"Thats dragon dung alright." Said Culculna. Though it looks as though it would have been made from above. There's a large enough gap in the trees for Drangon droppings to pass through, but not for a dragon itself to land. Skiffle, was it still warm when you stepped in it?

I'd left the arguement over dragon poo behind, you had to hand it to Skif she had a way about her of relieving tension amongst the group. I was tracking the Orcs and their prisoners, as I tracked I noticed the forest starting to thin out and the ground becoming more hilly. These were obviously the foothills of the mountains we were going to have traverse to find this city with the atrefact.

Coming carefully to the top of a hill I looked down into a valley and tried to sink even further into the ground at what I saw there. Dragon! There was a Red Dragon in the centre of the Orc camp, the orcs were obviously been given orders of some kind and the dragon didn't look happy with them. It flew off to the north and east, as I watched as the Orcs broke camp and start to move in the same direction; they were leaving 4 poles in the ground slumped from each pole was an Elf I could not tell if they were alive or dead.

I went back quickly to Fanten and the rest to tell them what I'd seen, and so that we could get help to the elves as quick as possible.

Having heard Valnar's story I quickly sent Skif, Ja'a'la and Silviras to check on the Elves condition, while the rest of us went round the camp to ensure that the Orcs had left and weren't waiting for us in ambush. Valnar again went ahead to scout the way, and as we left I heard the captain muttering again; but he quailed before a hard look I sent his way.

Skiffle kicked one of the spears and it crunched, falling over. The elf scewered onto it was most certainly dead. Glancing at the other elves, she quickly divested the poor body of any valuables and came away with 2 rings and locket.

"I can't find any one of these poor bastards alive. Can we go kill something now? Please? Pretty please? My feet are itchy," the gnome whined pitiously.

Fanten leaned down and picked the gnome up. placing her on his shoulder "Sit there for a minute while we gather ourselves, I'm all for chasing the Orcs down and killing them as well, but I don't want to run into that dragon Valnar saw either. Suggestions people kill the Orcs or leave them alone and hope they avoid us?" Fanten waited on the others to see what they thought.

"If the elves can get to the Orcs flank and start peppering them with arrows, they'll turn and if we move to the other side we can be waiting for them. Skif is good with a bow and she can protect us while we wade in, we just need a signal for the elves to know we've attacked so they can pick off the rear-end and not us."

I heard Fanten chuckle "That seems a good plan, would a howl from Fenris be enough for you Ja'a'la and the others that are with you?"

"Howl, my sweet. Howl! Mwuhahaha!!!" The others looked down at her with raised eyebrows. She shrugged while she got herself into a good sniper spot. "What?"
