I got DA:O on PS3, and I've seen too little of the game to decide whenever to get the expansion or not. Not sure if this is the same for the PC version, but choosing between THREE races and THREE classes is a serious buzzkiller for me.

Really, my vote would have been "almost certainly" rather than "yes, definitely" but I'm much closer to that than I am "maybe, depends of the reviews" so I went with Yes, definitely.

As long as they keep to the stellar storytelling and character development that is present in Origins, I have high hopes that this will be a fantastic expansion. If I have a concern, it's that Awakening will be too short, after having purchased 2 overly short digital downloads for Origins (namely, Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar).

I am definitely going to get this. I consider DA:O one of the best rpgs of all time and if the story and overall feeling of the game is on the same level as in the original, this expansion is going to be stellar.

Dragon age is one of the few games where I start it and don't notice how much time have passed untill hours later.

I think that either you love this game or you don't there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. I've been greatly disappointed by RTO when WK was fine (although Warden's Keep was short it did feature some sort of moral dilemma which was totally absent from Return to Ostagar).

I just hope I won't be disappointed by Awakening.

At this point, I can't honestly say I'm going to buy it. I say that having purchased ALL expansions (and premium modules) for both NWN1 and NWN2, and having only played a few of them. I'm just having a hard time mustering up the desire to play DA:O through another time, even as a different type of character. And I too am disappointed at the level of content received for the money in the premium content packs. Maybe in 6 months. Part of it too though is I'm so busy with work and personal stuff that I don't have the time commitment for RPG's - it's casual gaming only for me ATM.

For me it'll heavily depend on the amount and quality of the content. Of the 3 DLCs I've only played Stone Prisoner (came free with my copy of the game) and while I found it to be excellent, from reading about the other DLCs it seems to be the best one by far. I am unimpressed with the others so far, and if Awakening is even more linear and combat-intensive than the main game then I'm probably skipping it. That said, I do want to replay the game at some point, and the new skills, talents and specialisations may be a good incentive (in addition to the new storyline of course).

Same here. One day my wife walked into the living room and asked me if I knew what time it was. I told her no. I started playing the game at 9AM and it was 4PM in the afternoon. Opps... I was suppose to pick up lunch. LOL.

Maybe but not depending on the reviews. It depends whether I think I'll actually end up playing it. I've had DAO pretty much since release and still have a fair bit left to go. And a whole heap of other unfinished games to get through. If I fancy playing again after finishing the main game then probably, I'm more likely to do that than restart with a new character.

Highly doubtful. I found the original game to be the biggest disappointment since IWD. Seriously it took them all those years to come up with that tired old storyline?

You can look at it that way, or you can see that it's been the one major step in the right direction Bioware has made since BG2 so far.

Buying the expansion, but not as soon as it comes out. There's just so many good titles coming out at roughly the same time.
If the reviews are all very positive and I read a lot of positive comments from here in the boards then... maybe.

Having finished Dragon Age twice now, I have to admit its mediocre at best. Its pretty much the exact same game as kotor 1-2 and mass effect. After you finish the introduction, you have to visit 4 locations, and get something. In DAO its allies vs the darkspawn, in kotor its 4 pieces of the starmap, kotor 2, its talk to 4 jedi masters, mass effect its find evidence against Saren in 4 locations. after that, all hell breaks loose and you have to battle your way through a horde of enemies, and then take out the main badguy. its exactly the same, only in different wrappings.

I will be getting the expansion pack though, but I am fairly certain it will follow the same line as the ones I mentioned above.

As I know me I probably will. But that, as the when, depends on what I'll have to do at the time it comes out.

I haven't bought RTO yet either, but I'll probably get it, the idea being that it, and some other custom modules (like Alley of Murder), will spice up replaying.

Alley of Murders is IMO much better than RTO. It's also a mod that has been made with extreme care and doesn't break immersion. It's that good.

Good news is that the modder responsible for Alley of Murders is working on another module called The Shattered War which will probably take place in a different time line (after the end of DAO). It will definitely be an interesting addition to the game. Mods like Alley of Murders are really rare.

A typical Bioware game worthy of 85 out of 100. I got one dlc, wardens keep, and boy was it short. Side quest short. I thought: Is this it? So I will skip RTO until it is on sale or comes in a package.

The expansion will undergo reviewing by non Bioware fanboys. After that it will depend on other games that are out, and if I have completed the OC. I stil have not finished Dragon Age.

A steam download during a sale is most likely.
