Just in case you couldn't read the headline:

    SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!
If you don't want most of ToSC *SPOILED*, then get out!

Has anyone accomplished this without cheating? I was just reading a post by a guy who is doing all of BG1/ToSC solo with a cleric/ranger, and I don't think he can do it.

If you've finished the ToSC expansion solo, I want to hear how you dealt with:

    - the wolfweres, particularly the encounter on the top level of Balduran's ship, with the Greater Wolfwere. Also on every level you walk into the MIDDLE of an very ugly group of wolves and wolfweres.

    - on the same note, solo against the greater werewolves (I believe there's only a couple of weapons in the game that will hurt these guys)

    - the traps in durlags tower. (I don't want to hear anyone say that you don't NEED a thief here! Half the damn thing is traps!)

    - The Tanarri that respawns inside his followers! C'mon, I'm not sure if someone tells me they soloed this guy that I'll believe them.

    - The Four Wardens in Durlag's Tower, I think this was the toughest fight in the whole game.

I'm greatly looking forward to your solutions.

ArtEChoke, I was able to beat BG2 solo with a R/C.

Now I am not far into BG yet, so I can't tell you how I will do it - when I get there, I will be sure to keep you posted. I will give you the answer basing on my BG2 experience.

First of all, since I am playing solo, I gain experience VERY fast. I am 5/5 at the end of chapter 1.

    1) Dealing with wolfeweres - in BG2 my char was able to slay 3 Greater Wolfeweres that show up in Windpear hills (see topic in BG2 forum).

    2) There is a cleric spell called "Find Traps". If I can get around a trap, I will. If I can't, I will summon skeletons, and have them walk over it. If a skeleton doesn't trigger it, I will protect myself and walk over it. All it can do to me is damage, because I can protect against every single bad effect a trap can produce. And Ranger/Clerics tend to have quite high hitpoints.

    3) A Ranger/Cleric can be buffed up with spells like no other - giving great strength, to-hit bonuses, damage bonuses, etc - he is a best tank in the game.

And as I said before, I am planning to post regularly about the progress of my char, and in the end (I am pretty sure that I will survive the adventure) I will submit his character information sheet as a "Screenshot of the week" - displaying all 100% in the "Experience Value of Kills" and "Number of Kills".

I do not cheat in any way, and the only think I allow myself to use is the BG walkthrough - I just don't have the TIME needed to explore everything on my own.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be calling you a cheater, I wasn't suggesting that.

I was just curious if anyone else had done it, becuase the ToSC scenarious are a lot different and much much more challenging than any other part of the game (much more interesting too I might add), the demon Tanari is not like the ones you find in BG2, its death gaze is *slightly* different. Disturbing effect, truly.

    Modjahed,
Good luck. That's pretty awesome that you're already up to 5/5 on your levels. About the screenshot of the week, AFAIK you're not supposed to send in screenshots of those information screens but that doesn't mean you can't take the screenshot and post it here on the boards.

[IMG] Well, I've never solo'd, but some tips I've heard for a solo char with some magic skill could be, other than the above that is, use mirror image to get by traps, when you get to Baldurans ship you may have to leave and come back a couple of times. They are tough. I had to try a few times with a full party! The T'anarri thing is tough, too. Plus, if its just you, you can't save yourself if you are "ghoulized" by the gaze. Ditto for the wardens although I barely remember that one. Good luck!

The Tanar'ri's death gaze can be circumvented by the Potion of Mirrored Eyes. Also, I believe if it affects you, you have a certain amount of time to cast Dispel Magic to cure yourself before turning into a ghoul.

    [IMG] A monk?

Was it frier Tuck perhaps? He made nice drinks in Robin Hood films. I guess he can make nice games also.
