At my biggest surprise, i just remarked that this brave old ù**ùù**ù$(!) Cernd can WEAR this crazy enough Shadow Dragon Armor : This gives him directly an AC 0 and 50% acid protection : more than useful for him as he really seems to be unable to wear ANY other armor in the game so far, like every shaf. druid, even the slightest traditional leather armor (or even other "natural" ankheg scales armors so far, etc) !! : this shadow armor seems to be considered like a "natural" armor so that can be appreciated by a druid like him !! :)

Had you noticed this already ??

Is there any other armor like this that this brave Cernd could wear ??!!!!

This one is really a true natural benediction for him so far (AND just after the mazzy's "inner temple quest" so), and i must say i prefer him with it than without, even for his looks (black is VERY nice too on him, far better than his standard pale no armor ridiculous little 'kilt' he must exhibit if not).

And like i have no other characters that really could need this one on regular occasion, this is a benediction so.. !

    nb:
imagine him with a Bard Blade main character, Keldorn, Nalia (before Imoen return), Aerie, Valygar and you have my current party : what a fun!... you must be very tactical with a party like that and try to use each one at maximum "team" complementarity spirit; very fun for now. And with Cernd with this armor, negating (one) of his main annoying flaws (correct defence and ridiculous look in his standard form when casting helping summons -his main very fun/nice function), this is even better so!! Now, would be good if i could put his dex to 18+ without potions (for his "sling of everar and bullet+2" very correct performances too) without the gauntlets (for Keldorn all the same, lol), but this is another story.. poor Cernd! :)

If you think that's freaky, I've heard people say you can put the Red Dragon Scale Armor on him.

Hi, Beren and Aces, thx for your replies.

I just did a little (mm.. extensive, lol) research on this everytime valuable bg2 forum, and i found this excellent thread on the subject !! :
    http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=005115#000025

As far as i know, "my" Cernd, can wear (or not) :
    - THIS shadow armor : OK!
    - Ankeg armor : NO! ,( (anyway, i don't care, the shadow is really prettier, lighter and better for him, even for his "role and play" look -without it he is simply ridiculous, sigh and rolleyes)
    - Evil human flesh tanner's armor (first form, not yet fully transformed) : NO!

As for the red armor, i will see, but the other thread seems to conclude on a "no".

Anyway, as far as i am concerned with the "defensive" needs of this brave Cernd (mdr..), the shadow armor is more than perfect/enough for me. If he wants to play in the front line, anyway, he simply needs (tac0, speed, res, etc) to transform in his greater WW form to be able to at least hit something (at mid game level at least!) and be sometimes (very) useful like this, so.. the shadow armor is primarily useful against arrows/surprised encounters from behind and mainly for the LOOK when he simply summons his things as a normal druid.. and he is then much more bearable like this (when compared to his initial really ridiculous look without it --and we can't even change his original blue color as it is considered like "naked"; horrible in any party).. ;)

    NB:
Yes, as for me, i find it logical enough than a druid could wear at least a "natural" AND ultra light "ultra magically from the source and transformation process implied natural leather/tight magical **skin** like" armor. Especially an armor that is considered like "leather" in the game specs like the shadow one : the red one is higher.. and honestly, i found the "even no leather" rule for the shapeshifter is really a **ù*ù*ù thing : those shapeshifters, are already terribly disadvantadged comparatively to other "natural" classes that this is becoming really ridiculous if not this.. ,( !

Happy with "my" shadow armor for him so. I don't consider this like a cheat/bug/"exploit" at all, far less at least than the *really* stupidly crazy "ethical" possibility allowing the dual killer class kensai/mage for exemple, when you know the real kenzai ethics and philosophy!!.. Poor shap. druids in comparison, lol.. at least a shadow "leather" scales armor is 100% natural and ultra light, this is already this for the "realism" of the thing, for me. Anyway, poor druids all the same in BG2... the crazy xp cap above lv14 in order to "win" the lv15 (3000000xp or nothing, pss, when even clerics are light years aboves them in level then, allowed to use high, very high cleric spell well before them.. for a crazily loooong time before them, pss; really completely unfair, this.. if the designers wanted to do everything possible to discourage people to use druids, and especially Shapeshifters -no armors at all, crazy xp cap lock above lv14 -under classical bg2 games = killer thing ,((-, no spell under transformed from, etc, etc!) they succeeded perfectly, lol) is simply crazy and scandalously unfair for them, imo.. ,(

    ;)

    nb:
i play with ToB installed, simply playing through SoA from the beginnings, before to be able to go on under ToB later so. Very nice so far. Great game.

    Oh, oh!

    Final "update" :
i just saw in the ToB forum archives too that Cernd will be able to wear the "WHITE dragon armor" too ...
    http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=10;t=000510#000012

Far more rationally "tedious" than the "simple" leather shadow dragon armor, but i don't complain either if i go with him up so far...

I like fancy colored "natural" armors for nature lovers, anyway, as for me, lol... i don't care. Far less worst anyway "in my book" than Keldorn armor on monks, after all.. mother nature is good.

    :)

My post up there was meant to be an opinion of the way things should be.
Alas... they can't wear much of anything.

One reason I don't care for Druids much.

And how did you make two posts in a row?

I thought double-posting is eternaly prohibited

But saying that druids are significantly weakened next to the PnP version is quite true. I find other kits even more weak than shapeshifter.
Thats why some wise people got an idea of returning Shapeshifter ti his original statistics(PnP) as he should've had.
Shapeshifter rebalanced the mod is called. Actualy its just a part of greater well known mod easy-of-use. You just select shapeshifterrebalanced while installing it.

    Recomended ;)

When I played an avenger druid in BG-2 SoA and ToB I was able to equip the ankheg plate mail on him - almost as good as the shadow dragon scale ;)

Sorry for the double post : i just clicked the button and, strangely, the post was accepted; i thought it was possible now (script changed), so i didn't tried to delete it and simply reedit the first one : sorry for that (just surprised).

As for the WW druid :
I saw indeed too the "shapeshifter rebalanced" "patch" in the Baldurdash things (if i remember well): the modifications are really GREAT for putting the *TRUE* qualities of the WW (immune to non magical weapons, etc, etc: THIS is real WW, sigh) : this is crazy that the designers have EVEN *trashed* this from the "true" Wolfweres", this is simply crazy.. and is very surprising when you play with it the first times.. : the first time i saw the HP plunge face to simple normal weapons, i really thought that was an hallucination : a WW is NOT a standard summon, not a standard bear or things like that, and should at the minimum be considered exactly like the other NPC WW that can be encountered, oh well.. another "help" and "incentive" for the druid lovers so (here= WW real abilities and stats trashed), under at least SoA... ;)

Now, alas, the rest of this "patch" is really very unbalanced, from what i saw, big sigh : i really have a problem with ALL the other completely arbitrary and radical modifications they put in it ; they add spells (cleric spells..), they allowed the WW to cast spell in his WW form, etc... sigh.

If only they had *just* modified the STATS of the WW this would have been perfect.. but alas they add a ton of others completely unbalanced modifications (sigh)...

To conclude now with the "armors" available for the Shapeshifters and so, Cernd, here.. : the Shadow one is really very good, i confirm. The 50% acid protection seems to be reported too when he switches to the WW form. Not bad at all, this.

Sorry again, Taluntain, for the double posting. I understand the moving process too, np.
As for the posting in the ToB forum : even if i am only in the SoA part of the game? The ToB installation change the gameplay of the beginnings and beginnings related questions? (just curious)

    nb:
Aces, yes this is an interesting and legitimate complementary opinion on this subject, np. Thx for the input. ;)

[IMG] ToB changes a number of things, but most importantly causes some bugs only noticed in the game after it is installed. Bugs that are not there unless you have ToB installed. And a plethora of other things.

Yeah i agree that casting while in GW (Greater Werewolf) form is a little too much. Its just as good as equiping at least full plate to a mage and cast spells

But i guess those armors can only be usable in non-patched game. I tried Ankhneg plate, White dragon plate, Shadow dragon armor, red dragon scale and none of them were equipable.

It may be just a glitch with Cernd as i tried armors listed above only on my own character.

Thx, Taluntain. ;) So there are new bugs with ToB installed : arf.. ! i would have loved that this would have been the contrary -the main reason i did the full install SoA+ToB (more HD wasted so during at least 1 month for nothing, the time i finished SoA for the first time! -i am optimistical :) ) thinking ToB had corrected a bunch of bugs from the original (release date wise), a little like ToSC did a great job for this for BG1 when i played it!.. Oh well, np. For now, i encountered no awfull bugs (apart 2/3 already here in the original too apparently, and not corrected so, like the Azuredge thing..): i cross my fingers. Thx for the precision anyway. ,))

Gothmog4230 : so i completely agree with you /WW patch (alas).. ,)) On the other hand, we can always play WITHOUT casting things under the WW form, like another people suggested (and did himself) in another thread on this subject i read somewhere.. i guess he was right. Now, my real problem is with the new clerics SPELLS available too; they really add clerics spells arbitrarily (just thinking this or this was "natural" for them, so should be available for druids too, etc!..) : i know the first levels spells for now, but i don't know too much for the very high level ones (ToB..), so here again, you can role play in avoiding the "uncorrect" spells, but you really MUST already know the correct and available "natural" spells for each levels BEFORE(!), or you risk too use a clerics high level spell without knowing it, lol.. But i suppose that this could be manageable too for people knowing *perfectly* the druids before so, simply controlling themselves for not using too much "corrected" things.. just mainly the right WW stats are really welcome and really great for a real WW experience; great job for this, this patch, sure!.. but alas for experts only so in my opinion, knoxing already perfectly the druids.. if you want to stay "legit" apart the corrected WW stats a minimum, choosing your own options to use or not as desired or not; this just requires then a little concentration and discipline -and can be great again so, imo. ;)

As for the "patch" games, you meant with *this* mod WW patch ? I play with the last official regular ToB patch, so, and the Shadow (etc, but no Ankheg too indeed like i noted above) is available so for the shapeshifter here. I suppose you meant the mod patch so, ok: they give in one hand what they remove ("corrected" too) in the other so, arf! ,))
